We want to do an alternate path alternate client restore for an NT
data set.

The data was originally on Server1 on the D: drive. I want to restore
it to Server2 on the S: drive. S is a mapped drive, a CIFS share from a
Netapp filer.

The restore process can't find the S: drive.

I tried to restore D:\ to S:\ and that didn't work.

I tried to restore D:\ to \\filername\sharename and that didn't work
either.

Is there a trick to this?

Bpimmedia -policy policy -d startime -e endtimed | awk '{print

SU is what our tape barcodes start with - you'd want to substitute

Does anyone have the software called Horizon Libray Management or Library

We have L180/L700 libraries that we want to manage remotely and are looking

We had originally purchased it but lost it now and Sun doesn't provide this

If someone has the link to download it or get it from somewhere please let

This may be a permission problem. My fuzzy memory says that we have done
this in the past.
By default the netbackup services run under the local SYSTEM account
which
has by default root access to the local file systems. But no special
privs
for remote file systems. You might try to change the netbackup client
service to run under an userid that has rights over the share. Or
restore to
a local file system and copy the restored data to S:

drive?

We want to do an alternate path alternate client restore for an NT
data set.

The data was originally on Server1 on the D: drive. I want to restore
it to Server2 on the S: drive. S is a mapped drive, a CIFS share from a
Netapp filer.

The restore process can't find the S: drive.

I tried to restore D:\ to S:\ and that didn't work.

I tried to restore D:\ to \\filername\sharename and that didn't work
either.

Is there a trick to this?

[Veritas-bu] Is there a trick to restoring to a mapped NT drive?

2010-02-18 Thread mojomagix

Keep reading this even though it references a backup and you are trying to do a
restore!

I think the key might be user context as ref'd in this technote

When trying to back up mapped network drives on Windows, the backup fails with
status 71: none of the files in the file list exist
http://support.veritas.com/docs/279997

The tn states Mapped drives exist in the context of the current user. The
VERITAS NetBackup (tm) processes run in their own user context. If the drives
are not mapped in the NetBackup process context...

Use the restore_notify.cmd to map the drive as opposed to backup_notify ref'd
in the technote.

Re: [Veritas-bu] Library management software for L180/L700

2010-02-18 Thread Lightner, Jeff
Well it can't hurt to try. It's not as if Vendors haven't been known to
give incorrect information especially on older products. At worst
you'll be able to view it remotely which is better than noting.

Yes you are right Scott, however what Sun told me is that even if we get
this remote thing configured, we would just be able to view/monitor the
library remotely. We won't be able to do any management tasks such as
reboot it/move tapes/up-down drives etc on the library

went
out and looked at mine and it does have an ethernet interface (unused by
me). I navigated through the menu and there is a place to configure the
IP address. Personally, the last thing I want is another piece of
add-on
software to manage another piece of hardware. If it has a web
interface,
that is one up in my opinion.

Jeff, we do not have it. I am not sure why. The previous admin has left
and we do not have any clue as to where can we get it. We see something
called personality module installed on the L180 library, however Sun
told
us that if we setup ip and attach ethernet cable we would just have the
view access to library. We need something to manage it as well.

The horizon management software isn't software that you load on your PC.
It is a physical module that is plugged into the Library and is then
access over the internet via a web browser.

Hope that helps

All,

Does anyone have the software called Horizon Libray Management or
Library Administrator ?
We have L180/L700 libraries that we want to manage remotely and are
looking for this software.
We had originally purchased it but lost it now and Sun doesn't provide
this software anymore.
If someone has the link to download it or get it from somewhere please
let
me know.

Thanks,

[Veritas-bu] drive_graph.ksh

2010-02-18 Thread Chapman, Scott
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone out there is using Mark Donaldsons
drive_graph.ksh script. It's a great script, but I don't appear to be
able to figure it out! DOH! When I went from 5 to 6.5, the script
stopped working properly and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.
Anyone out there have any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: [Veritas-bu] Is there a trick to restoring to a mapped NT

2010-02-18 Thread Stafford, Geoff
I'm pretty sure you can do a 'net use s:\filer\share' followed by all
the user credentials (lookup the parameters for net use, I forget off
the top of my head) in the restore_notify.cmd script on the client.

I'm hoping to give this a try (running client as logged-in user). The
Windows guys aren't too eager to work with me on this restore, I guess.
I'll update when I get a chance.
