Can NetBackup backup be used to do a ufsdump? If so what is the process need to be used in the policy. Thanks. James M. Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.0 controlling/logging a ufsdump
Hi, Not sure on that. You could create two files though (1,3): 1. bpstart_notify - create the dump here 2. the backup will back it up to the path you specify in the policy 3. bpend_notify - remove it when its done These files go in openv/netbackup/bin. Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.0 controlling/logging a ufsdump
A ufsdump is a type of backup. NetBackup does another type (modified tar). Why would you want to backup one type of backup with another? This isn't the same thing as snapshotting. -Original Message- From: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of Justin Piszcz Sent: Monday, December 13, 2010 10:54 AM To: Jim Caldwell Cc: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.0 controlling/logging a ufsdump Hi, Not sure on that. Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.0 controlling/logging a ufsdump
You can use NetBackup to get a tape and put it in a drive (assuming you have a library) using tpreq -m media_id [-a (r/w)] [-d density] [-p poolname] [-priority number] [-f] filename Your script could then do a ufsdump and tpunmount [-e exitstatus] [-f] filename [-force] to unmount the tape. Be sure the tape is in a pool that the backups don't use. Re: [Veritas-bu] Catalog Archiving Solution
No, but it does work to NFS mount the image catalog in a pinch. We had a sudden disk full condition on the local array containing the catalog and a SAN drive wasn¹t available, so this was the recommendation from Symantec --except, unbeknownst to them at the time, bpcatarc throws an error and quits... Yes, it was a fun time. Certainly Symantec won't support the EMM database on NFS even though Sybase officially supports NFS-based databases (like Oracle does). .../Ed ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu
[Veritas-bu] Error Bare Metal SRT
Morning Not sure if anyone seen this. BMR Master/Boot Server on the Master Win2k3 SP2 Box 6.5.6 Setup a new SRT as the old one was corrupt. (had to effectively erase BMR and start again). Went to update the SRT with the 6.5.6 maintenance pack. Found the update .msi and downloaded it. But when I goto use it, I get this message Updating SRT with latest 6.5.6 update pack and getting error message Netbackup update.msi is not a valid NetBackup Maintenance Pack Install Image There is a TechNote about this, and it says to uninstall back to 6.5.4, then reinstall 6.5.4 and try again! But its a live 24 x 7 server. Nothing else on the site, logged a call (2 hour response, so far waiting 24 hours!) and its a joke! They seem to be worse rather than better! Anyone got any ideas?
