Hi,

You need to copy all the files/etc.

I did this awhile ago, you'll want to use the last incremental, it will
auto-pickup the full.

Justin.

So my recovery should be to just point to the last Catalog_Backup_FULL? Or the
last Incremental?

No, but the actual DR files are in /usr/openv/netbackup/disasterrecovery.

I had to use one of those at my last DR.

[Veritas-bu] Upgradation, Consolidation and then Migration :-Few Questions 5.1 to 6.5, windows 2k to win2k8

2011-01-28 Thread pranav batra

Hello Geeks,

We have one Master Server( NBU 5.1 MP3) + one media server ( NBU 5.1 MP3).
Both are on windows 2000 SP4.

Now our task is to upgrade master server to 6.5.
Upgrade media server to 6.5.
Decommison the media server and move all the media to master server.

Recover the catalog to another server that would be windows2008 with a diffrent
name:

Steps we have made for this project :

1) Upgrade both master and media to 5.1 Mp7.
2) Upgrade master to 6.5
3) Upgrade media to 6.5
4) Decommison media server and move all media to master server.
5) Recover the catalog to new server with a different name.( win2k8 box)

Some questions that I have are :

1) Can we recover the catalog of windows 2000 machine to windows 2008 :-As both
will be a diffrent hardware ???
2) Even the name of the machine to which we have to recover the catalog is
different:-What all steps we should follow for this ?

Please suggest with your inputs as this a critical activity for us.

Thanks in Advance !!

Pranav

Good evening all,

We recently patched our 2010 exchange server with MS patch kb2419640
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2419640 and now we get the above error
only when trying to connect to the dag. We can connect to each box
individually but not the Dag. We have even patched the client to 7.0.1.
Anyone else out there seeing this?

Hello

Since PD 6.6.1 there is support for PDDO on Solaris x86_64

Check the compatibility list http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH139108

Also in the release notes you cand find this

 Solaris 10 x64 OST Plug-in

Can be found here http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH137146

The big one is that there is no dedup support - for either media server
dedup or the PDDO plugin.
Appliances that use NFS or FC VTL do work.
OST plugin support from the manufacturers varies - for example, Data Domain
does not have a Solaris x86 plugin but Quantum does.

Another big one is that there is no Granular Recovery Technology support for
Active Directory, Exchange, and SharePoint.

I've never seen one document that mentions all this, so if someone has it
and can share, I think we'd all appreciate it.
