[Veritas-bu] exchange backups fail status 112

2012-11-13 Thread Klebba, Don
I'm running Netbackup 7.1.0.4 on a windows 2008R2 master and media servers. I
recently created 4 new policies to back up our 28 exchange databases, each
policy has 7 databases. Last night policies 1 and 3 ran without any issues,
however policies 2 and 4 both failed with a status 112 (no files specified in
the file list(112). I can copy these databases out of policy 2 and 4 into a
manual policy that I use for one off backups and these databases run without
any issues. Does anyone know how to correct the status 112 errors?

Don,

I think 7.1.x.x has some bugs when you copy policies. With
7.1.0.3, and Exchange, there has been several times where I have had to
re-create the policies from scratch - not copy. Then the policies would work. I
would try that first.

2007-05-31 Thread WEAVER, Simon (external)

Ok so has something changed? What version of Windows is Exchange running on?
What version of Exchange?
Any recent updates or patches applied.

What is the throughput you are seeing now? Is there any Anti Virus running
on the box that is scanning files on this Server?

Hello All,

Something crazy is happening. My exchange backups use to take 6 hours to
complete but for the last couple of days it has been taking a day and a 1/2.
I was wondering if anyone has run into this issue before, and what they did
to correct it.

My Environment

Netbackup 5.1 MP5 running on a Solaris master and a Linux media server.

  Thanks,

Matt

RE: [Veritas-bu] Exchange backups agent question

Title: Exchange backups agent question

Hi Greg.

From what I have seen, it backs up the entire DB. I had a
customer who have expanded his db by 50GB by mistake and he had to run a tool on
the exchange to reduce the size. Until he did that, NBU backed up all the
data.

Nb 5.0 mp3 Solaris 9
When the exchange backup runs and it logs in the
exchange server do to the mailbox backup does it backup just the mailboxes or
does it backup the entire db with the dead space in between the emails and
mailboxes? Basically when you have a db and all the files/records are all
contiguous there is no slack or dead space in between records. But if you were
to delete one or two records then you would have empty or slack space in between
some records. My question is does the exchange agent back just the data records
leaving the slack space alone or does it backup the entire db including the
slack space. I hope this is explained clearly enough so you know what I am
trying to ask.

Ok thanks that is what I was looking for. Our exchange
teams compress the db each night and they were wondering if that will help with
the time it takes to backup and I was not sure if the agent backed up0 just the
data or the entire db.
