Re: [Veritas-bu] using a network location to store backups

Did you select Follow NFS option in policy's attributes tab, after mapping the
remote location as a network drive.

 Hi I have NB7,

I am tying to add a network location as my backup location such as
 \\nas\backups

I've even tried to mount it as a mapped drive, I cannot figure out how to get
NBU7 to see this location as a storage location for my catalogs and backup
 files.

Please be gentle. I am new to netbackup :)

That's the thing, I don't see where to add the network drive or the smb share
inside veritas as a location available for backups. The media / storage
locations only allow mounted physical disks.

It is not possible to use a CIFS share as the catalog as your initial post
requested.
It is, however, possible to send backups to a CIFS share.

Three things are needed to do this.

1. A Windows Media Server
2. Change the 'NetBackup Client Service' and 'NetBackup Remote Manager and
Monitor Service' services on that Media Server to run as a DOMAIN\user account
3. Define your storage unit as Basic Disk and specify the CIFS share as
\\server\share or \\server\share\subdir
