I for one stopped using a strike indicator years ago. However, I often use a dry fly with a dropper to accomplish much the same thing. I have also tied a monofilament loop in front of the hook eye when first starting to tie a dry fly and this allows the dry fly to be adjusted up and down the leader much the same as a strike indicator. In many instances the trout will take the dry.
