Very nice Chuck. My tying desk is in our basement. But a lot of my tying is done on the dining room table. Go figure! [VFB] QUOTE FOR THE DAY
Choose your fly fishing friends wisely. They can have an effect on how many and the size of the trout you catch. Fly fishers who spend a lot of time fishing together will unconciously adopt some of the other's mannerisms, choice of flies and casting techniques over time. Surrounding yourself with great fly fishers who catch a lot of trout will help you catch more and larger trout. However, does that mean that while you as the poorer angler improve your fishing prowess, the better angler's fishing prowess deterioates? It could be that as your fishing improves and your friend's deteriorates, he reaches a point where his fishing begins to improve by watching you the better angler. If that is the case, somewhere along the line, both will become great anglers. On the other hand, if both of you are piss poor anglers to begin with . . . . -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VFB Mail group. Ashley posed the query: Do I get a feeling the return of the swap where we send in pictures of our messy tying areas may return? Maybe we should. I had to clear out the tying room to make a place for a bunch of grandkids and great-grandkids to play. This would be a great time for pictures. Re: [VFB] International Fly Tying Symposium 2012
There was quite a good mix, but I guess that my streamer addiction really shows in what I photograph lol. I love to see these tied on long shank hooks, but for reliability, if I was going to fish these patterns, it would be on tandem set-ups. As you mention, the leverage is a factor. Lots of full dressed Atlantic salmon flies, spey, trout, realistic, wet... I honestly only made it maybe 1/4 of the way around the tyers. I think I spent about 3 hours chatting with the Sweds just inside the front doors starting with VFB's Niclas Runarsson. Re: [VFB] International Fly Tying Symposium 2012
Tandems and a articulated version work quite well with the fish. I make the articulated by cutting off the front hook and shortening the wire a bit, now there are devices made just for this case. Peggy The real long ones are mostly trolled on open lakes now.On 11/21/2011 6:48 PM, Neville Gosling wrote: Hey Darren: Thanks for sharing.
