[VFB] Tying Class Saturday?
Hi Wayne, This may come as a shock to you, but I think my mind may be playing tricks on me (AGAIN!) Am I correct that your daughter is graduating from college this week? I seem to remember that you won't be going up to Davisdonville to the fs-ff tying class on Saturday?? If I'm mistaken, pls let me know. Rob and I had a blast up at the Savage River this past weekend. We never did connect with the guys from TU, but still had fun, until we got rained out Sunday morning . . . The big advantage to a camper is you are loaded and ready to fish, and can change locations for each trip. I like it for gas mileage, as the truck pulling the 34’ Raptor gets about 6 mpg.- just too expensive for short-time trips or long distance runs, especially up into the mountains. We can be camped in Yellowstone in 6 hours with that little Chinook, on less than one tank of gas. For those of you cranking up the AC, just think of me up here still freezing my butt off. LOL Global warming my butt. We’ve been under snow for more than half of April. As for the phone Good riddance to the Droid. Anyone want a phone real cheep? Nothing wrong with it- just doesn’t have the slick technology of the I-phone. Got tired of my son showing me up with his I-phone. The Droid has all the accessories, plus the windshield mount for the navigator function. It’s OK for a personal phone, just not as handy for a business phone. I like it also because I can take off early from work, head down to the river, fish the evening, camp overnight, fish the early morning, and be back to the office by lunch the next day. If I have my cell-phone (with 4G Hot-spot) and PC, I can conduct any business that comes in, even catch an important call in the middle of the river, and they are none the wiser. If I have a fish on, I let it go to message, lol. Like Peggy says too, it's flexible, and if the intended location doesn't work out, I can easily head to another location. Sorry about your loss- sounds like an un-happy camper story. That’s probably because you live at the destination point everyone else wants to head to. So you never needed to go anywhere else to be where you wanted to be. And too, motorhomes are work and expense for maintenance. Nothing is cheap anymore. But... finding a spot to camp during high tourism season is a real chore at times. So having the ability so free-camp in the boonies is a definite plus, and I don’t have to pay for the overnight camping spot just to get a fire-ring. I can take the Chinook places my 34’ Raptor would never go. Don, We bought it from a neighbor that was living in it on the lake while he was working north of us. It was in the winter time. I had assumed that it was in good shape. It was real clean inside. They were moving and he offered it to me for a price that I thought was a bit high but the bank approved the loan. We started having problems right off. The AC did not work, The heater did not work. Both batteries went dead on our first short trip.We found out about the heater on that same trip. Then the refrigerator went out,The water system had been worked on and the hot and cold water were hooked up backwards. The first trip, we used two quarts of oil in the first 100 miles. I could go on but it will get boring. It was just what we wanted and they were leaving in a few days so I really did not check everything out like I should of. We later found out we paid twice as much as it was worth on the market. I did a lot of the repair work on it.
