Hi Allan,

thanks for the ideas - we can go with 4 flies, need 3 frames and the US host can fish his set or what he wants to do.

Sure, we will need to send a bit of $$ to the host for the frame etc. But,... no volunteer so far.

Best wishes

Rene

Rene,

If I weren’t in the middle of a move to downsize (followed by another move when
my new cottage is done), I would be glad to host, but I won’t be in a position
to do so until probably April. It really should be finished and distributed
before then.

When I suggested four sets, I was thinking:
        1) One set to Dot, who is moving to the East Coast to be with her
daughter Gina.
        2) One set to Robert Spezio, who will stay in Mountain Home.
        3) One set to the host, whomever that might be.
        4) One set for the Sowbug Auction.

The host would need to mount the swap flies into shadow boxes then package them
safely and ship them to the other recipients. This can get quite time
consuming and expensive, so all participants should include money to help with
this. I would suggest that each participant should include a minimum of $5.00
or $10.00 (US $) along with their contribution.

I wish I weren’t in the middle of a double move. For more reasons than the
above.

Off topic: How are Anna and the twins?

Best to you.

The last 2 sets are for fishing purpose, I guess.

But first of all, we need a host in the US. Any taker?

Best

Rene

P.S. is 'host' the correct word?

Dot is moving to New Jersey with her daughter Gina so she and Robert will be
about 1,200 miles (2,000 Km) apart.

I won’t be able to tie until around February or March because my gear is packed
up for a double move. I have to be in a tiny apartment till my cottage is
built. Obviously I won’t be able to host.

Folks, fellow VFB Members and Tiers (Tyers),

In the past, we did a couple of swaps to honor certain members. I would like to
pick up this for a really memorable tyer who passed away recently.

I suggest that we run a swap to honor Tony Spezio.

Unfortunately I cannot host it, as it makes no sense to send the contribution
to Europe and back to the USA.

So, as a first step I'm looking for someone in the US who is willing to help
(Let's call him/her host for now). I assume that it would make sense if this
member is close to the NAFF in Mtn Home, AR.

My idea is, that the participants ty one to three flies, send them in to the
host. The host will frame the flies, so that they can be handed over to the
NAFF and they can auction the frame off during the next Sowbug. The NAFF might
use the money for a good purpose in Tony's name.

We can use paypal to send the financial contribution to the host for the frame
etc.

My idea is, that we send in 3 flies, one for the NAFF frame, one frame for Dot
/ Robert (Tony's son), and the 3rd set is for the host for is effort. Maybe he
can distribute a picture of the frame, so all participants have something what
they can can frame and put it at the wall.

I would do the usual stuff on this list, to keep things going. However, I need
input from the host while the flies are arriving.

I'm open for sure for better ideas, but I really would like to get a "Tony's
swap" running.

Please don't sign up for now. First, we need a volunteer for the 'host' in the
US.

Best

Rene
