Did I miss something? Is this group going away?

If it is I would be interested in a Groups.io mailing list, basically the same
as the the current group.

I am thinking of getting off of Facebook, to much controlling politics by

Welcome, Sean.

The $6.00 level line on Amazon may not be a bad price - if it's NEW.

Wally World sometimes stocks level lines.

I'm curious why you would want a level line.

Hi Sean;

It would help if you explained want you want a level fly line for so that we
understand the intended use. The old fashioned level lines are rare apart
from running lines that are used in conjunction with a shooting head.

[VFB] Were might I find some non-tapered fly fishing lines? Any suggestions?

2011-06-02 Thread Jim Forshey (Aquatic Book Shop)
Hi

I am trying to make some fly fishing lines that are 20 feet length and I
have not been able to find any non-tapered fly fishing lines that I can cut
into 20 feet lengths, the fly stores I have been in have told me this type
of line does not exist, but would think it does. I think this is something
like what they would use on the Japanese Tenkara poles.

Any suggestions on where I might be able to find some?

Thank you

not find it in restaurants much in our area and if you do it is not fresh.

RE: [VFB] Finding hooks and backing for Fly boxes

2010-09-23 Thread Jim Forshey
Anessa started tying when she was about 8, but rode on my shoulders when I
when fly-fishing at a very young age (around 2). (The shoulder fly-fishing
was probably not the smartest thing, but we each enjoyed it.)

Every so often Anessa has friends over that she tries to teach how to tie.
It is fun to watch a bunch of 12-15 year old girls try to tie. She is now
planning to start teaching her friends how to Fly-fish.

Your granddaughters will enjoy it a lot if you give them a lot of freedom.

they are based out of UK, do you order them from the UK site any other
suggestions?

I would also like build some 1/2 x 12 x 12 boxes for storing them, I tried
some cork from Michaels for backing, but when I removed a fly it tore it
apart (Styrofoam also had the same results.) I was hoping for some
suggestions.

Thank you

Hit the right pond today. Came home with 50 gills, from 7 to 9 inches long
and 25 crappie, 9 to 11 inches.

Most of them on a furl tailed mohair leech.

[VFB] I have a few old Fiberglass/Graphic rods I would like to clean up and I wondered what most people use to clean them up (or how they clean them up)?

2010-05-18 Thread Jim Forshey
I have a few old Fiberglass/Graphic rods I would like to clean up and I
wondered what most people use to clean them up (or how they clean them up)?

Do you wash them with soap and water then put some type of wax on them?

I have different people (new to fishing) using them all the time and would
like them to look half decent.

Thank you for the suggestions.
