It's not just the drought Chuck from what I understand from a few
folks that know is that the government also cut the amount the
subsidize peanuts in this area this year and alot of the farmers
decided to grow crops that yield higher returns.

pound bag to $55. Then, about October I guess it was, they went to $65 a
bag. Then yesterday, she went to pick some up and they were $87 per 50
pound bag. Her prices have been the same for over 5 yeasr, but she is going
to HAVE to go up now, so we'll have to see if it affects business. That's
about a 91% increase in less than 6 months if my math is correct. Anybody
here who likes peanuts or peanut butter, better stock up. They said that it
was mainly cause of the draught in Texas and other states out that way. I
didn't know Texas raised that many peanuts, but I guess they do. Chuck

Robert: yeah, sadly, all that stuff, from peanuts, corn, pork bellies,
wheat, oats and on and on are subsidized, and are also traded on the futures
markets that usually keeps the prices artificially high, Chuck

Folks: here's the only whip finisher I have ever been able to use. When I
started tying, almost 7 years ago now, I ordered a starter kit from Cabelas,
and it has a whip finisher like the one in the link here.

But it is just t flimsy for me, and the thread comes lose every time.
So, I took a steel clothes hanger, a coffee stirrer, and two plastic craft
beads and made the one in the photo attached . The beads are glued in place,
but the straw is not, to allow it to spin and I have tied whip finishes with
this thing from size 28 all the way to about sized 2/0, and in less than five
seconds, so even though I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it, i have watched at
LEAST 100 videos from DVD's to YouTube, to websites etc, showing how to whip
finish by hand, I cannot seem to get the hang of it. My wife however, who does
NOT tie flies, watched one of the Poul Jorgenson videos I have and he shows
how to hand tie the whip finished by hand, in slow, step by step's, and my wife
was able to tie a whip finish knot by hand on about her second try. Me. Like I
said, I'm still trying to learn LOL.. I don't feel that I miss anything cause
like I say, i can tie one with my hand made doo dad here in 5 seconds or less,
but learning to tie the knot by hand IS on my bucket list. I need to dig out
the Jorgenson (or Tony's as he shows a good step by step on one of his videos
as well i think) video, sit down with my wife and let her teach me. Chuck

If anybody is interested in a home made one like mine, I have them for $29.95
plus $9.95 SH ROFL...Or, I'll knock off 2 bucks if you provide your own
coffee stirrer LOL...
