Re: [VFB] re: Kevin
I already checked his vise situation and both his vises had been standing on the bench keeping their feet dry. /Nick -Ursprungligt meddelande- Från: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com [mailto:vfb-m...@googlegroups.com] För Joyce Westphal Skickat: den 10 oktober 2010 01:41 Till: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Ämne: [VFB] re: Kevin Do you know if he still has a vise? I'm going to see what I can find. Kevin is a member of the generousity army who were there for me six years ago, so there's no question about it. /Nick -Ursprungligt meddelande- Från: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com [mailto:vfb-m...@googlegroups.com] För Anthony Spezio Skickat: den 9 oktober 2010 13:46 Till: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Ämne: [VFB] Re: Kevin I got a message that list member Kevin Slater lost all his tying stuff on the flood last summer. Re: [VFB] Re: Kevin
Tony, I could send some things. what would be helpful is to know what he ties. We could send a bunch of stuff that he would never use. If there was a list of patterns or materials, I am sure we could help. Re: [VFB] Re: Kevin
All VFB Members: It has been awhile since I have been on VFB and most of you may or may not remember me from the old days in the chat room. Kevin and I have been friends for many years mainly due to both of us working contruction together for several different companies. There have been many times that he and I have spoken both in person and on the phone and I have remained a very close friends throughout everything. He has a heart of gold and will not ask for anything in return other than a good friend and shoulder to lean on from time to time. Here is un update on Kevin's situation He is currently in the process of getting divorced from his wife and prior to the floods this past summer he was trying to sell all of his equipment to help get money to make ends meet for himself and his 2 kids, he has also been working all of the hours that he can work to get extra money. So far he has been able to get some extra money to paybills, but is still having a tough time. As far as what he lost it was estimated to be around $10,000. Unfortunately the insurance company will not even think of covering this part of his losses. I do know that he lost most all of his fly rods and reels ( I do not know if they can be cleaned with a solution of bleach and water or anything else for that matter), and he also lost most of the rest of his hunting equipment and terminal fishing equipment also. He lost all of his tying materials, such as deer tails, pheasant skins, grouse skins, partridge skins, chenilles, synthetics, etc. Some of the other things that he lost were some if not all of his tying books (several of them were signed by people such as Dave Whitlock, Fishy Fullam and Bob Clouser just to mention a few, I do know that several of his books were priceless to him and he was very upset at this). He would probably accept what ever materials and tools that people could spare. Kevin has been tying a wide range patterns from saltwater, trout, panfish, bass and even some of the classic salmon patterns. Please do not mention that I passed this information onto everyone, but being that he has attended several of the Sow Bug Roundups, many of you either may personally know him or know of him through other VFB'ers. Kevin has been and always will be one of the best friends that I have or will have for that matter. Thanks everyone for caring about one of our own.
