Thanks for the comparison videos. I've been curious about these camcorders for a while. I almost bought one just for the heck of it but the price wasn't right. The .avi video quality looked ok for outdoor shots and Zooey was in motion enough so that I could see if there was any artifacts around her. I did notice a bit in the background grass from time to time. I'm glad that I can bypass proprietary software and edit as normal. What kind of batteries does the gizmo take and how long do/did they last? Hey, thanks for this, Gena. I've been thinking about getting one of these because they're so cheap, it wouldn't be a disaster if it fell in a river or got smashed up in a bike accident. I really like the idea of creating custom software -- for instance, to arm an army of camerapeople at an event and upload to a custom site (a la the Beastie's I Shot That, but live and online). Also, the disposables they make have been popular as a hacker platform, I'm curious to see if anybody does the same for this. It takes 2 AA batteries. Not sure how long they last since there is no battery indicator yet that says I need to replace them. I've been using the camera over the last two days and haven't replaced them yet. Not enough data to say...
