[videoblogging] After audio podcasting for A WHILE, I finally launched Marketing Fit TV
I've been on this list for...oh, I don't know how long and have seen the tips and tricks you've discussed to make your video podcasts. Well, inspired by Rox of Beach Walks TV and others who I'm forgetting at this very moment, I finally entered the video podcasting foray with Marketing Fit TV - http://marketingfit.tv It's a weekly show featuring me doing something athletic and using it as a way to help small business owners get active using social media. The first episode is on the site and episode 2 goes live on Friday. Still some things to tweak, but thanks to the talented team over at Show In a Box for making such a cool Wordpress template freely available for video blogging. And thanks to all of you for posting your tips so that I can avoid some common mistakes right out of the gate. Leesa Barnes Host, Marketing Fit TV http://marketingfit.tv
[videoblogging] Social Widgets
Hi everybody, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some cool social widgets. I'd like to create a page on our community site where people can have interactive fun, essentially a playground of social widgets, which would get narrowed down to one or 2. Keep in mind that the widgets need be extremely simple, as our members are not geeky in the least. I've got a meebo chat / video room on there right now. http://k9disc.com/index.php?option=com_contentview=frontpageItemid=75 I'd like to throw a few more things up and see if they stick. [videoblogging] Kodak Zi6 - Jamaica Pond
I bout A Kodak Zi6 HD camera at Radio Shack. Here's my first video shot outside: Kodak Zi6 - Jamaica Pond http://vimeo.com/1971103 Six scenes at Jamaica Pond shot with the Kodak Zi6. Edited in iMovie and expoted with H.264, Key Frames Every 30 Frames, Data Rate 2,000 kbits/sec. Per Vimeo suggestion: bitcast.vimeo.com/vimeo/assets/images/hd_settings.jpg I really, really like the fact that the camera saves the videos as .mov and that they can directly edited with iMovie. You can also download the QuickTime version on the page. Here's the first video I shot inside without any editing or export. I need to learn the focus point on the camera. --Steve http://stevegarfield.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: [videoblogging] Advice for Indie Filmmakers
My colleague and friend John Murphy was on that panel. Telephoned him with some congratulations. He was just flying out of New Orleans and surprised that I should have heard about the panel so soon. Told him, I'm connected. Thanks for the link, Renat. [videoblogging] Spike Lee chats w/bloggers vloggers
I had the extreme luck of being included in a little roundtable qa with uber brilliant filmmaker Spike Lee yesterday. We asked him about the influences of social networks, online video distribution, cell phones, cheap shooting editing tools on film making. He's a bit of a Luddite when it comes to using these tools himself, but definitely sees the positive gamechanging nature of them for others. Here's an excerpt of the interview. http://tr.im/spikeleechat -eddie [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Re: [videoblogging] Re: Introducing a new concept in feature film blogging
Hi Russell, On 10 Oct 2008, at 08:14, thegeekfactory wrote: I expect there will be a lot of sceptics... The project wouldn't be successful without them. I suspect you haven't been to the blog because it's simply a course of multiple choice questions in order to format the script then the subscribers get to choose from three possible candidates for each part of member of the cast etc. It's really quite simple. I have been to your site, and indeed it is a simple system. However, if it were simple to get people to give truly valuable input, then this format would have been an industry standard long ago ;) Also the dice man the book is all about leaving choice and decision to the roll of the dice. So all in all I don't identify with your scepticism and am sure that with a little more knowledge you'll feel more positive. Please understand that I don't feel negative - I'm skeptical, that's all. I have tried my hand at numerous interactive film projects (and processes) over the years and have rarely found one that produces as engaging an end result as a more traditional production. It seems that passivity is the preferred option for the majority of audiences. It could even be argued that it is the restriction of choice and access that piques an audience's interest. Celebrities very rarely hang out with their fans, for example. On a related note, I'm sure many videobloggers will confirm how difficult it is to get even close family members just to subscribe to their feeds let alone watch them. I dunno, perhaps there's something to be learnt from this. It's more than 20 years ago that I read the book, but IIRC, the protagonist himself ultimately admits the limitations of slavish adherence to the dice-rolling habit. I did enjoy reading the book though, and I hope you enjoy the process of carrying out your experiment just as much. Cheers, Christian
