[videoblogging] New Mac Edit Software
Phil Shapiro from DC Media Makers shared this link with me...might be something to look into if you want more flexibility than IMovie but less $$$ than FCP on the Mac. 30 Day Trial Available http://www.miensoftware.com/mediaedit.html Cheers. if you'd like to try software that offers more than imovie, but less than final cut, this $60 program looks like it fits right in between imovie and final cut. see http://prmac.com/release-id-6522.htm Sample video created with MediaEdit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuwM6urSNpghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuwM6urSNpg -- Scott Stead www.scottstead.com www.documentaryclub.org c) 202.557.1291 e) scott.st...@gmail.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Re: [videoblogging] how to allow broadcast quality video download for EPK?
You're right. We did have a lot of custom coding. We coded the backend to make it simple and undaunting for our client. The traditional Drupal backend is very intimidating to clients, I have found. But I do believe that we can still strive for simpler, more intuitive interface design in all our apps or toys. I believe so very much. And if there was a lot of that, the same guy in charge of the upgrade woulda kinda known. Once you embark on that venture, you need to see it through, and if you act as though it's a surprise, then, well, ya know - the dev is not looking like such a smarty pants after all. A solid Drupal, or wpmu, or any other relatively turnkey solution, build has all of the native SEO it needs when implemented properly. As to the question about the future, its here if you are working with the right team. Sorry for the long day. They happen on the web. Best advice, take a break, have a cold one and look at it again in the morning. Good luck. Thanks... I wasn't sure how large Blip allowed files to be, and I never heard of the latter. Coolio. Will check out. It's tough handing projects over to clients, especially a new Drupal web site. I am killing them with notes on how to update and maintain their site, include photos, embed videos, never mind optimize each page and object for SEO. And the teaching part is killing me. And my programmer just updated to the newer version of Drupal, and had to update all the modules, which caused problems, so he had a rough day too. Looking forward to when this will all be y..er. Is that in our future? Ever? On Jul 12, 2009, at 2:53 PM, Adam Quirk wrote: I'm pretty sure you can host files that large at Blip. However for the EPK, I want to allow for downloadable broadcast quality video clips. Any suggestions on how to make this work? Where and how to store them? The client is not very tech savvy, so something simple would be best. The clips are ranging from 600-980mb. Irene Duma www.strangeduck.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo! From what I hear from my Drupal friends, the next iteration is supposed to be much more user friendly and better designed. Ive heard the vision of drag and drop modules on the pageso you dont have a admin section...but everything can be changed on the front page if you're logged in. Again, maybe these are rumors but I dont mind spreading some Drupal gossip. Jay -- http://ryanishungry.com http://jaydedman.com http://twitter.com/jaydedman 917 371 6790
Re: [videoblogging] Compression best practices
Have you seen: http://heywatch.com/ Web-based online video encoding. I haven't used it yet. Got quite excited about what it says it can do: It will batch convert to any format, any length, and any resolution including HD. And you can set up your own custom format conversion profiles. It'll distribute your files to wherever you want - CDN, FTP, HTTP and Amazon S3. It will accept videos from sharing sites, URLs and podcast feeds as source files. It allows you to do custom watermarking. It has a mobile interface. And it has an API. It costs, but if I measure the time my computer is locked up in compression of different formats, and match that to my hourly rate, it's cheap. Looks like the future to me. If you try it, let us know how it goes. I really like SUPER by Erightsoft (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html ) but I usually have trouble converting from QT to WMV. Directshow seems to throw a wrench in the gears. I use QT Pro for almost all of my compression, but I'm still hunting for a good WMV solution. Windows Media Encoder isn't an option for me, as it almost always crashes for some reason. Is anyone still using Sorenson Squeeze? What is your process for compressing to all the different formats from your master? Mine: 1. Render uncompressed AVI at 1280x720p 2. Open in QT, Export Movie, h.264 1280x720p 2.5mbps 3. Open in QT, Export for Web, iPhone m4v and iPhone 3gp 4. Open in Super, Export to WMV9 1280x720p 2.5mbps Note: I'm on PC, but if you're on Mac please feel free to share too. Someone else may be interested. [videoblogging] [TEST] Tiny Canon SD780IS test of 1280 video
Hi all. I just got a Canon SD780IS, the tiniest Canon Powershots. I've put a very quick photo and test up of the video, it shoots 1280 .mov and is amazing for it's size and a great backup/documentation camera as usual for the SD line. This one is also cool in black. Amazon $227 (on July 12th anyway) Test at: http://plocktau.com/temp/ -- ~ Caleb Clark ~ Wk: http://gradcenter.marlboro.edu/academics/mat/faculty ~ Hm: http://www.plocktau.com ~ The problem with communication is the assumption it has been accomplished. - G. [videoblogging] Re: [TEST] Tiny Canon SD780IS test of 1280 video= KODAK M1033
I use the Kodak M1033, very small, great shots and video in HD. It is very touchy the buttons are so small and getting it to video fast enough and has so many options. I have record lots, in line for editing or I would post one, some will be on my channel soon. I got great rate on sale, some time back. It came with charger for lithium battery that lasts quite some time, and software, not impressed with the Kodak Gallery at all. Prior I had great software to work with the photos from my HP camera, Kodak didn't have. I was told bic lighters bought them out (shock if true) http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=12416pq-locale=en_\ US_requestid=2914 http://http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=12416pq-lo\ cale=en_US_requestid=2914 Cheryl --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Caleb Clark cale...@... wrote: Hi all. [videoblogging] imovie HD 06-08 -imove 09 - Tutorials - Apple asking 4 Feedback on both
1- prior asked for tutorials on HD 06, found some on youtube and made a hidden playlist anyone can access here, one of the kids is a real wizz http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=EEFC30C0493DBBF1search_query=ch\ erylspeaksout http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=EEFC30C0493DBBF1search_query=c\ herylspeaksout however, there was more to learn and was on phone with apple, they still have HD6 support on the phone, we went through both programs and another software I am using the Roxio vhs to imovie. Learned alot more, more to go, some he didn't even know. I mentioned that others as well as myself were commenting on the text frame effects features not in iMovie 09 that are in HD'06, but clip split was much easier in '09 and that alot of others have made comments re '09 dropping the text frame/effects features. And they asked that as many of you as possible please give your feedback and that is it important to do so. I was going to start a petition to them if not too late for imove 10, if there is one to include both, short on time. If you can add your feedback and ask others to request theses features be put back in and other feedback, it would be appreciated the more the better. If i do a petition I will post it. http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html Thank you Cheryl [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
