[videoblogging] Re: Videoblogging social network

2009-09-22 Thread compumavengal
I guess I want a way to find folks, and make it as easy as possible to
recommend a video to a non-participant. It is one thing to set up a Ning group
but you shouldn't have to join or plow though a list of videos.

Would also like spam management too. Well maybe someday we will be able embed
code into Yahoo groups. Right before the sale to M$.

[videoblogging] Archive player in Youtube

2009-09-22 Thread Jay dedman
I hadnt ever seen this archive player from Youtube:
http://www.islandmedstudent.com/home/videos/

Actually pretty nice. Similar to blip's show player. Doubt it's as
customizable, but I havent test it yet.

Just one for the record. I know many of us are always trying to find
ways to make our archives more accessible.

[videoblogging] Case Study Showing How Videobloggers are Affecting Change

2009-09-22 Thread Jeffrey Taylor
Hi everyone –

In my work with the Repeal Prop 8 folks, I've had the pleasure of
meeting Eugene Hedland and Bryan Choate from TruthandHope.org. These
guys get it like we do, and believe that authentic conversations from
real people are the best way to cause change. It's folks like Bryan
and Eugene that are forcing the political establishment to work
harder, work smarter and leave everyone with a living wage while
keeping campaign costs down.

Their latest ad is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RARArQ-P6Ik

And I invite you to take a look at Truth & Hope's latest work and
their outlining of a study that shows how a videoblog-style political
ad is far more effective than the status quo:

Hi Miguel,

So was the major film I saw

I was not disagreeing. I was just pointing out that, stupid or not,
this was not limited to vlogs. :)

markus

p.s., i forgot to say "happy birthday" last time. Happy Birthday!

I think I understand what you´re saying Markus. But the video I pointed out
still seems stupid (unless I should know better and OLPC is the Devil or a scam
to steal money from children or something).

[videoblogging] Re: Videoblogging social network

2009-09-22 Thread hollowbonefilms
It's true that facebook is pretty wide open, and I don't suggest using it but I
really agree with Jay - the fact that this email list is pushed to your mail
box is the only reason I read it. Sometimes I get involved - not very much-
but I absolutely know that I won't do any of it if it didn't come to my mailbox
every day. I was very involved with Show In A Box until it changed to a
website that I had to visit. Then I never got around to it.

I was on another list for the Association of Independent in Radio. Read it and
worked it for years - then they set up a website, and bye bye.

[videoblogging] Pretty awesome video on HTML5

2009-09-22 Thread Jay dedman
Brad Neuberg just posted this 40 minute video explaining the HTML5
(including video tag)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siOHh0uzcuY&feature=player_embedded

I know it's long, but he gives a nice background and history of web
development and HTML5 is so powerful and full of potential. It didnt
come out of nowhere. Very helpful for non-developers.

Brad is on the "open source evangelist" team (forgot the official
title). Im really glad guys like him are on the inside.
