[videoblogging] How to create a link within a .wmv?

2008-11-15 Thread Bookmarts
Using QuickTime Pro I now know the html code necessary to create a link to a
url from within
a .mov video, but can someone explain how to do the same in a .wmv video?
I only use macs and have no experience with Windows programs but surely there
must be a
means to create this type of link for WindowsMedia Player.
Thanks,

{textBox: 0, 0, 50, 160}click here:

But, cannot figure out how to get that link to open in a separate browser
window when
clicked on while viewing the movie. The code a target=_blank should work if
I knew
where it should appear. Regardless of where I enter it in the html string it
does not operate

Thank you for your response to my issue. I copied and pasted your suggested

Is there something I am missing from your instructions?

There's a different - and often more elegant - way to add clickable
links in Quicktime movies, if you have Adobe GoLive - or even Adobe
Photoshop. You can create clickable invisible hotspots in the
Sprite Track which can sit invisibly over Logos or Text in your
movie, thus making those graphics clickable but without a great big
blue text link appearing in your nice Quicktime movie.
Also, you can use the Sprite track to make the whole frame of the
movie clickable between certain time periods.

2007-07-24 Thread Bookmarts
Apparently when QuickTime upgraded to 7.2, for those of us using Flip4Mac to
export our
videos into a .wmv format, we started getting this error message. Supposedly
the
QuickTime people at Apple and the staff at Flip4Mac are working to resolve the
issue.

In the meantime even when I am able to export a .wmv video, using an older
QuickTime
version, the sound sync is off. It is off by about a half a second. Now I need
to figure out
some new audio compression rates that might generate the proper sync.

Any suggestions?

Flip4mac is offering a work around that can be seen at:

I have not had time to try this yet.

[videoblogging] Re: feed not working Verdi's mp4 method

2006-11-28 Thread Bookmarts
Michael:

Thanks for your comprehensive reply that helps me and others understand many
of the issues associated with creating and uploading videos.

There are a number of advantages to not using the export to ipod feature.

 1. It only works correctly if you are using iMovie. If, for example, you
have DV footage and are using Final Cut Pro and you use the export for iPod
thing your video will come out the wrong aspect ratio.

You are correct, I do create my vlog using iMovie HD 6.02 and QuickTime Pro
7.1.3, so the iMovie to iPod works every time.

 2. The export for iPod feature doesn't allow you to make any adjustments to
the compression settings. It uses single pass encoding at the maximum
bit-rate that can play on the iPod. If you set things yourself you can make
files that are anywhere from 15% - 40% smaller and look just as good or
 better using dual-pass compression.

This seems to be a reason not to move up to Final Cut Pro from iMovie. I
watched your great instructional video showing how you create the videos
for Alive in Baghdad. The procedures shown seemed much more elaborate and
involving than iMovie requires. Do you know if Final Cut Express HD will
allow for the simpler creation of iPod from QuickTime or will it be similar
to Final Cut Pro? If it doesn't there might not be an advantage to this
upgrade for my needs.

Yes, the iPod file I create in iMovie is rather large (36.4 MB) but the
screen size remains 320 x 240 and looks good in iTunes and on my video iPod.

What do you think of using 3IVX to get its dual-pass compression to create
smaller size files when making iPod versions from iMovie/QuickTime Pro?

 3. Again the aspect ratio thing causes problems. The latest version of
quicktime want to make 640 X 480 videos for the ipod (which is fine I guess
except they look terrible and are about 1600kbps). So if you want to make
320 x 240 video you have to resize your video before compressing.

As I indicated above, my QuickTime Pro 7.1.3 compresses my iMovie creations
into a screen size of 320x240 (see http://www.poetryvlog.com/m4v.html ).

 4. m4v is a made up extension and with some hosts you have to modify your
.htaccess file and/or call tech support to get things working correctly. On
the other hand people have been using .mov .mp4 without any problems for
 years now.
 -Verdi

You are right, at first my host, Godaddy.com, did not automatically support
the m4v or mp4 files, but following a quick phone call to the tech people
the host made a change which accepts those files.

Thanks again for the terrific support you give to all.

the problem.

The feed is

http://feeds.feedburner.com/inspiredhealing

and the correct post shows up at the top of the feed.

Also, when I click on the mp4 file it does not automatically
start
  playing
in another page in fireant like .mov files normally do.

Any help appreciated, as alway.

Actually it's not adviseable to change the file extension to .mov
unless it's actually a Quicktime file. You can open the file in
Quicktime and save as a Quicktime or you can change the file
extension to .mp4 since thats really what a m4v really is anyway.

This is what I do. After editing my videos in Quicktime Pro (hey, no
snickering!), I save a flattened full version as a Quicktime movie (.MOV),
and then Export to Ipod but make sure the file's extension is .MP4 rather
than Apple's bizarre .M4V. I actually make both versions (and different
size .MOVs!) on my site, but use the .MP4 in the feed, and haven't had much
 trouble.

A friend who was experimenting with vlogging also found the simple .M4V to
..MP4 change solved the problems his Windows-based friends were having with
 his files.

I'd imagine most webhosts know how to serve a file with the .MP4 extension.
I'm not even sure I'd expect them to add entries for .M4V!
