Thanks Rupert!

I converted my AVI file to MPG (using TMPGEnc) and it worked perfectly.

Cheers

Hmm. You and Dave have mirroring problems. He has audio with no

 AVIs are a problem.
Another program you could try is Super C
 http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
You could try is converting to another intermediate format - maybe
another type of mov or a wmv file.
If that doesn't work, then I'd think there's something wonky with the
 file.
Or perhaps you need updated codecs - you could download the XP Codec
Pack - you can Google for that.
I'm afraid I'm stuck beyond that - sorry.

MPEG Streamclip: that's the same software I've used and though it's

to carry the soundtrack on to the new file. I've tried everything I
could: from streamline copying the audio to another mp3 file with the
soundtrack apart. Have you had this problem, Rupert? And if so, how to
fix it? Sorry about the amount of questions but I'm a complete noob

   Hi Felipe,

I don't think there are free converters because of the QT codec.

I tried but all were shareware with a big logo over the result.

I think Quicktime Pro is the main answer - still deciding whether to
   get it myself.

[videoblogging] AVI to MOV freeware?

2008-09-07 Thread hoclides
Hi guys and gals,

it's me again. I've been trying to export some video files from AVI to
MOV (H264). There are many solutions out there, though most of them
aren't free. Being a person with limited financial resources, I'm only
interested in freeware and after trying some, I went with MPEG
Streamline 1.2 because it was the only to actually convert the file.
However, as good looking as the file is now, it lacks sound where the
original one had plenty of it. Does anyone know a good freeware AVI to
MOV (or WMV to MOV) converter?

Thanks,
Felipe

Many thanks to Irina, M.J. Loheed, Bill Comack, Jamison and the Wreck
and Salvage Crew!
In the past 2 days, I've been sending weblinks to everyone I knew or
could think of. One weird strategy I came up with, perhaps due to
sleep deprivation, was to post ads at Gumtree.com. It's quite famous
in London to find flats and they offer the possibility of a Youtube
embedded video. So I left a few ads in the Entertainment section...
I know there's an American counterpart called Craiglist.com but I
haven't checked it yet.
Let's see how that works!

Once again lots of thanks for helping out this country bumpkin in
promoting his work!
