[videoblogging] Re: Videoblogging: potential dark side

2005-12-21 Thread mkleider
it is true that many porn sites are going to begin advertising on vlogs. but
why is this a
bad thing? obviously the people that will link to such sponsers are not going
to have tech
vlogs or any other really serious issue because of the damage the porn links
would do to
their credibility. can you imagine CNN, BBC or Google news having smut
advertisments on
their sites! i really don't think we need to worry

[videoblogging] porn vlogs are not the darkside

2005-12-21 Thread mkleider
lets assume for the sake of discourse that there is nothing wrong with the term
porn
vlogs.

it is not clear to me that there is anything sinister about a porn vlog. i
like porn, and some
of the porn vlogs i have seen are hilarious. in fact, i would argue (though
this is admitedly
contentious) that taken as a whole, their content is much more intriguing than
the more
conservative vlogs our there. while many people find Andy's drive to work or
Bill's cat a
thrilling subject to video blog, there are many that would prefer to watch guys
try to pick
up and sleep with random girls on the beach. unless you think you can defend a
hierarchical status between preferences, you will let the issue rest and submit
to a, hey,
whatever floats your boat philosophy.
