Re: [videoblogging] Bloggers Sued For Defamation in Malaysia

Historically, Malaysia plays hard ball with dissenters. I hope these
guys have politically powerful lawyers otherwise they may be in for
some unpleasant times.

Keeping in mind, Josh Wolf is in jail in the USA for not turning over
source material, and historically speaking, this country values
independent thought and action. Imagine the consequences of speaking
out in a culture where independent thought and action are seen as
negatives more than positives.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 18 (AP) -- (Kyodo) _ A major newspaper company has
sued two Malaysian bloggers for defamation, an unprecedented move that
the opposition warned Thursday is aimed at stifling dissent.

Interesting.
