grab and use this player:

http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Media_Player

encode your videos to flv or swf and the above player will play them.
if you need software to encode video, i also use visualhub (mac).

We've been talking about using Visual Hub software - mac only, for easy,
good quality swf files.
VisualHub: The Universal Video Converter for
Mac.

I know that people have posted on this issue in the past but I can't 
find any info in the posts now.
I need to create files for a client in SWF format that will open with a 
video player skin, (play, stop, volume...)
Can anyone offer me information on how to accomplish this?
I own Flash 8 and I know you can do it but just can't get my head 
around it.
