Pete and I absolutely love the Canon Optura 400 (or 500).

It is small and shoots real widescreen video (not faking it by
cropping top/bottom). The only benefit of the 500 is an always-on
light for night shooting.

I currently have a Sony VX21000. It's a great 3chip camera. Can also
shoot 16x9. Nice picture. I like it better than the Canon XL1 that I
use to have.
