Re: [videoblogging] Re: DVD Rip

2006-02-21 Thread BevSykes

Thanks to everyone who recommended Handbrake as a
DVD ripping software. For the price (free), you can't beat it. I
wanted to alert people to what I'm doing this week, just because I hope that
more people will check it out.

My son, who was an actor, did a monologue show,
"Sedona, Arizona,"about life, death, and his search for spirituality in
1999, just months before he died. (He died in an accident--this is not a
"dying man's last statement" sort of show.) The show is funny, poignant,
emotional, and angry. He received excellent reviews for the show and he
intended to film and market it. They got the monologue parts filmed, but
he died before he could add the musical numbers which come between the monologue
segments.

I'm posting one segment a day. There are 8 of
them and they last from 5-10 minutes each. I posted the first one today at
http://basykes.blip.tv/file/get/Basykes-SedonaArizona1497.mov(also
at http://www.dailymotion.com/basykes/video/54990)
and will be posting one a day for the rest of the week. Episode 5 is the
most emotional of the 8. There is a longer than usual black lead-in to
each segment. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I hope that by
alerting this group to its existence, it will get a bit wider
audience.

Thanks again for the DVD help.

Did your DVD burner come with Roxio software? If so, what version?
The newer versions of Roxio have a capture or media import tool
built in.

Looking for some advice. I now can burn my old VHS tapes to DVD and
am looking for a simple, inexpensive (ideally free) DVD ripping
program. I tested out ImDVDtoo and it seems good, but it's also $40
and I really don't need anything quite that complicated. But I've
figured out how to get a file out of it, so if there is nothing
better/cheaper out there, I'll purchase it. But I knew this group
would know if there was a better way for me to go.

 Thanks!

No--this is a VHS/DVD player/recorder for the
television, not for the computer. I can burn to disk and then play on my
computer. (My computer is aPC, BTW). I am, as I write this,
attempting to use Handbrake (appreciate the link). I'll let y'all know how
that works out.
