[videoblogging] Re: News Video/Audio/Pics Hosting Service
Which is interesting since most of the video content does not seem to be made from the uploader... But I did crack up at this music video: http://www.boltfolio.com/portfolio/video/permalink.jsp? membername=pennycontentId=2521collectionName=penny's%20video%20Stream schlomo http://schlomolog.blogspot.com http://bayarea.node101.org --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Steve Garfield [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Terms of Service: With respect to Content other than photos, graphics, audio or video you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, the perpetual, irrevocable and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other works in any format or medium now known or later developed. OK it isnt the simplest language possible, but neither is the rest of the terms and conditions. What would probably be a good idea would be for their to also be a much sorter version written in plainspeak that outlines the terms of service, but keep the detailed legal version in place. Yeah, I agree. I have a few thoughts on other aspects of the terms conditions. Its one of the most detailed TOS Ive seen when it comes to discussing types of content that arent permitted. They reserve the right to remove content and discontinue the service at any time without notification for a variety of reasons. I think everyone does that to cover their butts, but IANAL so you would have to do some research. Again, have no involvement with their company, only looking to see if BoltFolio have anything to offer. Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~-- Get Bzzzy! (real tools to help you find a job). Re: [videoblogging] Re: News Video/Audio/Pics Hosting Service
The service apparently lets you make content public or private which seems to be the difference as to if those terms apply to video or not. Do you have to make content public to post it to your off site blog and link to it in an RSS feed? - Dave http://www.davidmeade.com Yahoo! [videoblogging] Re: News Video/Audio/Pics Hosting Service
No, I think they only differentiate between public and private in the clause because for public stuff they need some sort of license from you to publish/distribute the work. That entire section, both the audio/pictures/video clause and the other stricter perpetual clause, only apply to public stuff, theres no mention of any rights regarding private stuff. Im fairly sure its things like forum messages which come under the section that grants them perpetual rights to do what they like with they stuff. From nosing around the site for a while, Id say that this site is really interested in the social aspects of stuff, stuff like their older bolt website has been doing for ages. This is also reflected quite strongly by the sorts of videos they have their so far. It makes me feel old lol. They appear to support a good range of formats, and if the 'upload straight from webcam' thing works then that should help make it nice easy for people. Anyway its still in beta and it looks like some site features could use some work, eg the search facility, but then I havent signed up so I dont know what I might be lissing compared to someone who logs in.
