2007-07-10 Thread David Howell
Same here for a separate page for links.

I never liked having links in a sidebar. I think people that I am
linking to should have their own special place on my site.

My links page is handcrafted. Nothing automatic about it. That's my
special love to my linky linked people on my site :)

2007-07-10 Thread David Meade
oh perhaps a link is in order:
   http://www.davidmeade.com/links

(again I need to go through it and update some, but here's an example of
using delicious to manage your vlogroll)

The MeFeedia widget is a great tool too, and since I tend to update mefeedia
pretty frequently I may look into using that for my vlogroll and using
delicious just for other categories of links.

I've had mine on a separate wordpress page for a while now. My page is
basically full of del.icio.us widgets listing various categories one of
which is 'vloggers'. So I can tag something in delicious and it
automatically gets added to my links page.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: On a more positive note... my vlogroll

2007-07-10 Thread Rupert
That'd be great, Bill. My links page is actually powered by the
Wordpress Blogroll system, which makes it easy to maintain and means
I'll be able to easily add images and feeds, too - when I'm ready
to. I just put the name, the link and the description into the
Blogroll fields and click Add, and up it pops on my page.

However, I did have to hand code some PHP into my Page Template that
recognised when it was looking at the Links page and then showed all
the data in the Blogroll. So it's not a n00b solution yet. A plugin
would be nice. Perhaps i can provide something that other people can
use easily. If anybody wants to know the code I used, let me know.

[videoblogging] Re: On a more positive note... my vlogroll

2007-07-10 Thread Frank Sinton
Great idea to have this as a separate page so that you can include
more elaborate descriptions.

Linky-love across the vlogosphere is extremely important :) - and
not going down the same path as the blogosphere, who are starting to
not link to one another due to competitive forces.

For those who don't want to keep up with links manually, we did
launch a new vlogroll widget last week that uses each person's vlog
title and URL in the widget, so keeping your vlogroll up to date on
your site is as easy as keeping your feed subscriptions up to date.
Here is a blog write-up about it:

http://mefeedia.com/blog/2007/06/191/

Let myself or Mike Meiser know if you have any questions about this.

Regards,
-Frank
