Not a very good example of it's capability. That was one of the first shots with it. But it was all pretty heavy zoom. We were about 50+ yards away most of the time. I do a lot of shooting with the fig rig. It allows me to frame a face at 20x zoom with my gl2 and allows for really nice panning and such. I can also hold the top of the ring and get low angle steadyshot footage, letting the weight of the camera and mount balance the shot. As a bonus, I can articulate the grip head to 90 degrees and set the entire unit on the ground or a table and I get a decent steady tripod shot. - Original Message - From: Brian Richardson - I often steal my wife's Bogen monopod from her still photo setup for video. Perhaps I should buy my own :) I have a Bogen monopod (and two Bogen tripods) .. but for video use I find that the Bogen Tilt Head is a valuable addition. You *can* buy a Bogen monopod with one of these ( Bogen 3218, 3216, 679B, and more) .. but you can also buy it separately. Look for Bogen / Manfroto items #3232 and #3229 On a monopod without a tilt-pan fluid head (most of 'em) you can easily pan left and right, but tilting up / down is a problem. This accessory helps out in that area. It isn't a fluid head .. but a lot better than nothing at all and a lot cheaper than a fluid head. I have a couple vlogs for you to check out: StickPod (Walking stick) $2 (ball tripod top) http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2007/09/10/stickpod/ GorillaPod (hooks onto a bunch of things) $25 http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2008/01/01/vlogger-gift-ideas/ SuctionPod (sticks on windows, vehicles etc) $5 http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2007/09/06/mighty-mouse-a-suction-cup-one-dollar/ http://mikemoon.net/vlog/2006/09/25/car-cam-test-drive/ Mike --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Gena [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have tripods but there are situations where I can't take them or environmental conditions were I wouldn't be able to get them in the door. I would like a few affordable = under $250 steadycam or monopod suggestions. I've looked at the DIY steadycam but I'm not that mechanically inclined. I need something portable that can fit into a large woman's purse (the purse being large, no me.) can be set up in under a minuet and can work with hard drive and mini records. Gotta go to work. Will check back later this afternoon. Thanks, Gena

I LOVE my stealth pod, but you 'aint fitting that puppy in a purse. http://www.varizoom.com/products/supports/vzstealthpod.html varizoom has some other great stuff, too. add a LANC controller to your stealthpod and you are one dangerous new media force! http://www.varizoom.com/products/controls/vzstealthlx.html :-) Chuck --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Gena [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have tripods but there are situations where I can't take them or environmental conditions were I wouldn't be able to get them in the door. [videoblogging] Re: Shaky Vlogger Need Imput (also known as Input)
I just got home and took a look at the video. The price is right and my purse is my euphemistic way of saying that hunk of luggage that I carry on a daily basis. If I have to find a messenger bag or similar bag that can handle 23 inches so be it. I have a Samy's Camera near me so keep you fingers crossed. Thanks for the link. I went to http://www.quikpod.com it seems to be a great gadget if I want to take a photo of myself but I need to stabilize as I'm shooting in variable situations. When I was shooting at UCLA the stadium vibrates with people. Or folks would stand up un-expectantly. I'm a little confused about the walking stick. Do you mean a wooden one with a tripod head? That could be kinda stylish. I saw the video for that a few days ago. I didn't know I'd need something like that until this past weekend. If I don't find what I need at the photo store I'll mosey over to the hardware store and give it a go. I also saw a video of a guy on You Tube that shows you how to find the center of balance on a regular tripod that acts just like a steadycam. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1aPbwcqquk The hunt continues... Run a string from it to the ground where you can step on it or make an adjustable loop. It works pretty well and it's about as portable as it gets. And the price is right. Thanks Richard - I'm diving into the Bogen site right now. I'm also looking at an Amazon page with the monopod and the heads. http://www.amazon.com/Bogen-Manfrotto-Compact-4-Section-Monopod-Anodized/dp/B9R6GE Gena --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Richard Amirault [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: - Original Message - From: Brian Richardson - I often steal my wife's Bogen monopod from her still photo setup for video.
