Hi Andrew:
I have been visiting a lot of libraries both for reading programs for
my son as well as to show libraries my new book, and I'm noticing
that many have very nice meeting rooms that are not used very often.
I recommend looking at library websites for NY and LA, and I would
then recommend asking others who visit their local libraries in those
cities to take a look on your behalf. You might want to join some
additional groups, like children's book club lists to ask their
opinion as well.
You might be surprised how affordable the rooms are, and many
libraries have WiFi, which is a bonus.
All the best,
Andrew

Last year while I was living in Mexico I did a neat workshop on
creating puppet podcasts (I'm a professional puppeteer and write a
blog about puppetry in film video at
http://puppetvision.blogspot.com ) and I am planning to do similar
workshops creating web shows/video blogs using puppets in the first
half of 2008 and looking for suggestions for locations in New York and
L.A., where I will be visiting later this year (I am close to
finalizing plans for a Toronto workshop already).
The workshop is a two day intensive and introduces all the basic
video, computer and puppetry skills required to start creating
podcasts with puppetry (obviously, I provide an overview...it's
impossible to cover every skill needed in depth in a couple of days or
even a week). At the end of the workshop the group collaboratively
produces a video that can be uploaded to Blip, YouTube, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions for good locations in New York and
L.A. to hold this kind of workshop? Someplace friendly to the
podcasting community would be great. Affordable is always a good thing
too, as I don't want to have to charge too much for the workshops.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated!
