RE: [videoblogging] Re: Archiving high-quality orginals?
I've been wondering about this as well, but I very much want to archive the uncompressed DV. Currently I've been buying hard disks every time I need more storage space, obviously this isn't the best long-term solution... or is it? it's getting cheaper and cheaper... One reasonably cheap solution is to output the edited file back to MiniDV tape. If you buy in quantity, tapes run about $2.50-3.00/each which translates to much less than the $0.50/GB of data required in hard disk storage. It's also more practical because the tapes aren't volatile the same way a hard drive is. Jake Ludington http://www.jakeludington.com http://www.podcastingstarterkit.com Yahoo! Under the FileExport option, there is Quicktime Movie, Using Compressor and Using Quicktime Conversion. in Final Cut Pro 4 they have replaced the FCP Movie option with 'Quicktime Movie'. The 'Quicktime Movie' title is a bit misleading but it is really just a wrapper for a full quality DV file. using that option you can set the output file to be DV-NTSC or PAL or whatever resolution you are working in.
