You've tried Vegas? What is your end product? j On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:17 PM, Adam Quirkqu...@wreckandsalvage.com wrote: I have a drive full of video I need to edit on my PC. Re: [videoblogging] Codec hell
are you able to play them in quicktime on your PC? you might have to convert them using MPEG Streamclip (or QT Pro) into an .avi file with DV codec for editing in Premiere etc (what program are you editing in?) -ryanne On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:17 PM, Adam Quirk qu...@wreckandsalvage.comwrote: I have a drive full of video I need to edit on my PC. Re: [videoblogging] Codec hell
You should try Vegas - they have a 30 day trial. You should be able to put all HDV straight into the timeline and cut it. Not sure about AIC. Worth a try, though. Vegas is also good for editing files from phones and point and shoot stills cameras that other NLEs don't like. It's nice to use, too. Basic version is very cheap - only $50 or so. Even the top end studio package is not that pricey compared to the competition. Re: [videoblogging] Codec hell
Downloaded ProspectHD from Cineform and it seems to be doing the trick: http://cineform.com/prospecthd/ Found via this thread in the Jedi forums (should have known to ask the Jedi first!) http://boards.theforce.net/fan_films_fan_audio_scifi_3d_forum/b10015/21709558/r21711554/ Thanks for the Vegas recommendations. I'm going to download that and give it a shot anyhow. On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:59 PM, Rupert Howe rup...@twittervlog.tv wrote: You should try Vegas - they have a 30 day trial. Re: [videoblogging] Codec hell
You can do this. It's not ideal but shouldn't cost you anything. Export an .avi with these settings from FCP, iMovie or QT Pro: Video Compression: None Depth: Millions of Colors+ Quality: Best Sound Format: Uncompressed Sample rate: 41kHz Sample size: 16 Channels: 2 It will make a HUGE file. Was just able to import that into Movie Maker. - Verdi On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 3:16 PM, Adam Quirkqu...@wreckandsalvage.com wrote: Downloaded ProspectHD from Cineform and it seems to be doing the trick: http://cineform.com/prospecthd/ Found via this thread in the Jedi forums (should have known to ask the Jedi first!) http://boards.theforce.net/fan_films_fan_audio_scifi_3d_forum/b10015/21709558/r21711554/ Thanks for the Vegas recommendations. Re: [videoblogging] Codec hell
Yeah - if you haven't managed to do what you need by the time your ProspectHD trial runs out, Vegas Platinum costs $85, which would be cheaper than buying the $750 licence for ProspectHD. Vegas Platinum is the intermediate level edition - not Vegas Pro, not the basic Movie Studio (which doesn't do HD). Specifically mentions that Platinum has Improved native HDV .m2t playback performance and improved memory handling for HDV longform projects http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope/features On 10-Aug-09, at 9:16 PM, Adam Quirk wrote: Downloaded ProspectHD from Cineform and it seems to be doing the trick: http://cineform.com/prospecthd/ Found via this thread in the Jedi forums (should have known to ask the Jedi first!) http://boards.theforce.net/fan_films_fan_audio_scifi_3d_forum/b10015/21709558/r21711554/ Thanks for the Vegas recommendations.
