VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.

[Videolib] Classified job descriptions for Media Center

2012-02-29 Thread Pat Mcgee
Hi all,

As of tomorrow our library will no longer have a media librarian-I'll be
special projects librarian. Our Media Center will be managed by a
wonderful support staff person. However, I hope to have this job
description upgraded, and I am asking the list members to send me
information about what support staff take care of in their departments.
Fortunately our support staff person is a very highly qualified
underemployed ALA librarian...

My retirement date is June 30, and I will walk away without a backward
glance, but I plan to keep subscribed to the list...

Thanks in advance.

While you can't force a former rights holder to give you any information do
not believe them if they say they have no clue if they have had rights in the
last 5 or 10 years. If they are still in business they should have a way at
least 90% of the time to give some information on either where they returned
material or from whom they had the rights. I would try to very politely to
get them to look it up for you.

 Good luck

 Hello,

I'm having some difficulty in locating the copyright owner for the film
 Croisières sidérales (1941 or 1942).
 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033501/
We contacted Editions Montparnasse but it appears that they no longer hold
the distribution rights to this film.
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

 Best,
 Christina
