[VIHUELA] Re: Baxa de contrapunto

Baxa/Baja in Spanish can refer to the bass part.

Are you sure of this, Monica? I'd rather think of a baxa danza, rather to the
part.
In Spanish you'd say commonly contrabaxo for the bass part...

[VIHUELA] Re: dedilo

2009-06-24 Thread ariel abramovich
There isn't much to say... important is to have read and understood the
instructions and descriptions printed on the vihuela books.
Fuenllana makes an excellent description of all right hand techniques used
at the time (that he was aware of, of course) which is important reading.

We very often forget, on the other hand, that instructions were addressed to
no versed at all people, starting completely from zero, so I think things
should be taken too literally.

Best,

ariel.

  Dear wise ones,

does anyone know of any discussion of Dedillo technique by modern
players besides Ralph Maier's excellent presentation? I'm in contact
with Jacob Heringman and he has promised to write to me about his use
of dedillo (you can hear it in his Milan disk with Catherine King).
Other than this I'm comming up dry.

  Thanks all,

  O

Maybe some could go hear you if you reveal the concert's geographic location.
