Updating netrw fixed the problem. Thanks !

I've tried this and was unable to duplicate your problem.  Please try
the attached file:

  vim -u netrw.vimrc

and see if the problem occurs.  Also use the latest netrw (v156b) which
you can get from my website:

  http://www.drchip.org/astronaut/vim/index.html#NETRW
