Sure it won't read 1.4M PC disks in a SuperDrive?

Saved my bacon with a data base built on an IBM AS-400. 80 column

As I stated, that was with System 7.1. System 6 Apple File Exchange
I don't know about. We can split the difference. System 7.1 Apple
File Exchange will read PC disks. System 6's AFE won't.

See the FAQ for details; the procedure is quite long to reproduce here.

Make sure you're doing this with 1.4MB disks and not 800K disks as the
double-density (800K) disks will not work.

You probably don't need any driver for it, just an installation of
something like FreePPP.

There is also HFV Explorer, which is freeware.
Unfortunately the author hasn't done any updates

It tends to be rather crashy on Windows 98.

Re: Download .sit file via PC

2001-08-27 Thread Gregg Eshelman

No problem at all. .sit is a compressed archive like
a .zip or .rar. If you have Stuffit Expander and PC
Exchange (or Apple File Exchange or File Exchange)
just put the .sit file on a PC disk and pop it
into the Mac. (Same for .bin and .hqx files.) Then
copy them to the Mac's hard drive then drag and
drop onto Expander or an Alias to Expander. Double
clicking the .sit file won't work because the resource
fork is gone, but with .sit files that's the only
thing the resource fork is for. If Expander won't
do anything or complains then the file got corrupted
during download and you'll need to try again. Use
Internet Explorer since it handles filetypes it
doesn't
know about better than Netscape.

Download .sit file via PC

2001-08-27 Thread Suwartono

How can I download .sit file via PC ?

I got an internet access via PC only and I can transfer
mac's file with TransMac program and then copy it to mac.
I got no problem to copy .hqx or .bin file since there is
an option to copy these file type with transmac (also for data file,
text file & source file).
But there is no option to copy .sit file and none of the option gimme
an expandable .sit file.
Help me please..
