RE: Text message problem

2017-05-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Laury,

What you are describing about expanding the thread refers to email threads
only, it has nothing to do with text messages.
Don, here is what you do:

  1. Double tap on a conversation, then swipe to the message you want to delete
  2. Now swipe up with one fingerand Voiceover will say “More”. If not make
sure your rotor is turned to “Actions”.
  3. Double tap on “More” and the message is now announced as “Selected”. You
can go to other messages and each time you double tap on a message in the
conversation it is also selected.
  4. When you are done check at the bottom above the home key, you will find
“Delete” on the left and “Forward” on the right.
  5. Double tap on delete, if you have selected 3 messages in the conversation
I believe Voiceover will prompt you and say “Delete 3 Messages”, you have to
confirm and they are gone.

Sieghard

Before opening the message you need to swipe up until you hear expand thread
and then double tap on it. Doing this will allow you to go into individual
messages and you can delete them individually. If not you will delete the
entire thread if you do not expand it first. I hope this helps.

In some cases, I may wish to read and retain one or more and delete the rest.

RE: 10 ways the iPhone changed everything

2017-05-06 Thread M. Taylor
This is just a bit off-topic but I wanted to reply to Russ’ comment.

Russ, there is really no need to buy old time radio episodes as virtually all
of them are available for free, at archive.com.

Archive.com is very screen reader accessible, on either a PC or a Mac but, the
easiest way to obtain the episodes is to use the LivriVox app.

Just wanted to put this out there.

If you need more info, post to the list using a different subject.

Hi
This is my opinion.
I prefer ten times more surfing the net with VO in IOS / safari, than with jaws
whether in internet explorer, firefox, or chrome.
The safari with VO, is much more stable and accessible.

I know there are things to be updated with VO in html content, but even so it
is much more accessible.

In my domestic tasks I have no special needs.
Even in my work, I use my iPhone, or iPad.
I'm a telephone operator, and my iPhone or iPad, they do the job ...
And most of the time, do the job better than on a pc.
cheers.

Same here. My iPHONE7 is my computer In most circumstances. The last piece to
the puzzle was finding the Ulysses app. I now do all my writing using this app
and a Bluetooth keyboard. I can carry a bag with accessories including headset,
keyboard, external battery. It's far more portable and more easily upgraded and
any laptop I ever owned. Battery life for even my best laptop was around six
hours. With an external battery I can easily carry in a pocket, I can kep the
iPHONE and acessories going for a few days if necessary.

For everyday stuff, an iPHONE has all the computing power you need plug GPS and
camera helpful in identifying objects, getting around and scanning documents.

There are some audio games which require more RAM, storage space and processor
power than we're ever likely to see on an iPHONE or other tablet. Other than
that, I seem to have reached a point where my needs are quite nicely met by my
iPHONE7. I'm currently working on Personal Power: The iOS Edition. Similar to
the guide I wrote for Windows computers, it will help people understand the
potential and get the most benefit in their personal lives from iOS devices
they have. I hope to be done in around a year. Possibly less if things go as
well as I hope this Simmer.

You might try Prizmo Go, it is free but you can't copy the text unless you buy

things like a credit card number to you? Or is that just plane too small? I
just got a new card in the mail and I want to write it down so i can remember

RE: getting speech directions in Maps without VO turned on

2017-05-06 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
In Settings, Maps, he should open the Driving and Navigation section.
In their he will find the options for Navigation voice volume: no voice, low
volume, normal volume, loud volume.
There is also a setting to pause spoken audio during navigation prompts which
refers to audio books, podcasts, etc.

HTH,
Richard

Hi,

Try the "Add and Applepay card' feature in the Wallet app. Even if the card
isn't by Applepay, it'll still read the number most of the time. Try Office
Lens or KNFBReader to read the security code on the back of the card.

Re: comparing two accessible games, Blindfold Invaders and Space Encounter

2017-05-06 Thread Wayne Merritt
After searching the App Store, it looks like the Space Encounter game
is more feature rich and varying in levels one can choose than the
Blindfold Invaders. And, there's the immediate difference that BF
Invaders is free, and the Space Encounter cost $5 to get. Yes, there
are in-app purchases in the BF Invaders game, but the game itself is
free. Anyway, I'm guessing that the sounds would also be better in
Space Encounters. I played the Blindfold Invaders game, and it
reminded me a little of the 80's space invaders games, in concept and
in sound. I'm not willing to spend the money for the Space Encounter
game, so you will have to go from there with any further differences.

Good luck,
Wayne

I am looking for a Weather app that will include basic statistics on the screen
icon similar to how the mail app will display the number of new messages you
have properly configured in settings. Can anyone suggest such and app?

RE: A Quick Question About the Native iOS Calculator App

2017-05-06 Thread Richard Turner
I have never found a way to do this either, but here is an alternative app that
I've found extremely useful.
Link follows the description.

Calculator HD Pro Free by Cider Software LLC
H3>
The app developer was made aware of some changes that would make this app work
better with VoiceOver and in three weeks he had made the changes so it now is
fully accessible with VoiceOver. You can pay $2.99 to remove the ads which
gives a little more display area. Here is some information from the app store
description:

•Dual-line display lets you keep track of the Input and Result at the same
time.
•Backspace to delete one number at a time, Clear to delete entire input.
•3 layouts in portrait mode: Basic, Scientific, or History Tape.
•3 layouts in landscape mode: Basic, Scientific or History Tape.
•Memory content is displayed next to the Input to make it easy to keep track.
•Automatically expanding multi-line Input for really long equations.
•Automatic scientific formatting of extremely large or small numbers.
•Automatic addition of thousands separators in Input.
•Automatic formatting of the decimal point as a comma for international users.
•Accurate and powerful calculator engine.
•3D Touch enabled to launch in a specific layout.
•VoiceOver Accessibility with support for Touch Typing.

Subject: A Quick Question About the Native iOS Calculator App

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, May 5, 2017, one of the trending topics on Twitter was the
discovery that one can delete an entered figure, one digit at a time, in the
native iOS Calculator app, by simply single-finger swiping from right to
left, across the display. In fact, there were several videos on this.

For example, were one to enter 6275, rather than having to clear the entire
entry and retyping it, one can simply swipe to delete one digit at a time.
Consequently, the first swipe would delete the 5, in the figure listed
above, changing the entered figure to 627.

With VoiceOver disabled, I confirmed that this, does, indeed, work well.

However, with VoiceOver enabled, try as I may, I could not discover a way to
reproduce this very handy feature.

My question: With VoiceOver enabled, is there a way to delete figures, one
digit at a time as described above?

All replies welcomed.

Mark

Text message problem

2017-05-06 Thread Donald L. Roberts
My iPhone 6 is running IOS 10.3.1. I am certain that what I am about to
describe is a lack of knowledge on my part rather than a problem either
with IOS or with my phone.

I have a couple of friends who sometimes send me three or four text
messages in quick succession. When these messages come in, I can see
via voice over that there are more than one, and I can determine
specifically how many messages there are.

The problem occurs when I go into messages and attempt to read each.
After reading the first one, when I swipe down to delete that message,
the entire group is deleted. I want to read one, delete it, and then
read the next, etc. In some cases, I may wish to read and retain one or
more and delete the rest. Just what am I missing?

Thanks.

A Quick Question About the Native iOS Calculator App

2017-05-06 Thread M. Taylor

Mark

Is ICloud Drive for Windows accessible with NVDA?

2017-05-06 Thread Gerardo Corripio
I'm wanting to somehow, the notes I've saved on my iPhone on ICloud so I
can interact with them on my Windows7 Laptop (edit them more etc), to
access the folder on which they're saved on ICloud, for which I
installed the most current version of ICloud Drive, but NVDA doesn't
read the ICloud pannel! and when I go into Windows Explorer, I only see
a folder entitled "Pictures on ICloud" but no ICloud drive, even though
I just activated/updated to ICloud on my 5S! What am I doing wrong then,
or is ICloud not accessible with NVDA at all, or what settings would I
need to change somewhere, so that in Windows Explorer, the ICloud Drive
folder appears? Thanks for ideas since I'm getting very very frustrated!

Re: 10 ways the iPhone changed everything

2017-05-06 Thread Michael Feir
Having a computer is certainly still very helpful in my case for the same
sorts of reasons Transferring files into iCloud drive is much easier on the
computer as is zipping and extracting them. Also, I don't know that there's
any way to produce a Daisy book on an iPHONE. I hope to do that with the
guide I'm working on and think I'll need my Windows laptop to accomplish
that.

And most of the time, do the job better than on a pc.
cheers.

For everyday stuff, an iPHONE has all the computing power you need plug GPS
and camera helpful in identifying objects, getting around and scanning

There are some audio games which require more RAM, storage space and

Re: spotify question.

2017-05-06 Thread Mário Gabriel

Yes friend, I also had to always do this when I had iPhone 5S 16GB.
Face book is also terrible to consume data and battery.
Face book will never let us delete the data without having to uninstall
the app.
But now I'm more comfortable because I have iPhone 7 256gb, but I still
like to delete data of the apps that consume more data.

Deezer music, let us delete data.
Spotify does not.
Some of the apps most used by us, are already letting us delete data.
This is the right way.
thank you.
cheers.
