I just can't seem to get the box to pop up so I can search for other
users on IOS. It's like the edit box shows but no keyboard. Anyways it
seems to be an alright app.

Yes, so it isn't a 32 bit app.
So, who knows.
It could be that other apps did what he was doing better, or something. Or

Yes Audible app supports family sharing.
Now, whether that gives the other person full access to your library, I'm not
sure.
You set up family sharing under the main settings for iCloud I believe. I'd
suggest contacting audible directly.

In your Audible app, open Profile, help, and then activate the item that says
"Email Us."

How to extend Apple Watch battery life while traveling, 9 to 5 Mac

2019-08-27 Thread M. Taylor
How to extend Apple Watch battery life while traveling
By Michael Potuck

Apple Watch has evolved with new features and hardware changes since the
original launched in 2015 but one aspect that has remained nearly the same
is battery life. Read on as we take a look at how to extend Apple Watch
battery life while traveling with some options in settings as well as
portable chargers.

The first Apple Watch came with a rating of up to 18 hours of battery life
and that's the same rating that Apple Watch Series 4 has today. Depending on
your usage you may be able to squeeze more out of it, but if you're tracking
workouts with heart rate monitoring, using GPS, and more, it will be
depleted more quickly.

Particularly when you're traveling, you might rely on your watch more and
drain the battery faster than usual. It can also be more of a hassle to
charge when you're away from home.
We'll start by looking at a few settings you can adjust to extend battery
life, then look at some of the best portable chargers for Apple Watch that
are great for short and long trips alike.

Software settings
If you're willing to make some sacrifices to your Apple Watch functionality
there are some ways to extend its battery life with some settings tweaks.
1. Reduce the display brightness of your Apple Watch by heading to
Settings > Brightness & Text Size
2. Don't track any activities with the Workout app (the constant heart
rate monitoring eats up battery quickly)
3. Don't raise your arm and wake the display as much as you normally do

More restrictive settings options
1. Use Airplane Mode (swipe up from the bottom of your watch and tap
the airplane icon). This will allow you to keep earning activity credit for
your stand, move, and exercise goals and access other features on your watch
but will disconnect it from your iPhone and reduce battery drain.
2. Power Reserve Mode (swipe up from bottom > tap battery % > slide
Power Reserve button. This will save a considerable amount of battery but it
will only offer the option of seeing the current time. All other Apple Watch
functionality is cut off so this will likely be more of a last resort.

Extend Apple Watch battery life with a portable charger
If you'd like to extend your battery life without making sacrifices to how
you use your Apple Watch, there are some great portable charging options for
the wearable.

Multi-day portable Apple Watch chargers
Coming in about the size of a candy bar, multi-day portable Apple Watch
chargers usually offer 7-10 refills of your watch and also include an
additional output to charge your iPhone or another device.
Here are some solid options that are all MFi certified and rated at 4/5
stars or higher:
. Oittm 5,000 mAh portable charger for Apple Watch - $49
. MIPOW 6,000 mAh portable Apple Watch charger - $99
. Choetech 5,000 mAh Apple Watch power bank - $54

Notably, Belkin stopped making its Valet portable Apple Watch charger and
the new model isn't getting great reviews.

Key-ring portable Apple Watch chargers
If you're looking for something even smaller and easier to keep on hand, a
key-ring style portable Apple Watch charger may be the best option.
Oittm makes a pocket-sized key-ring Apple Watch charger that includes a
battery that will charge up your Apple Watch 1.5 times. It's priced at $39
and can be clipped on to your keys, bag, purse, or pants.

Ugreen makes another compact portable Apple Watch charger but it doesn't
feature a built-in battery so you'll need to find a USB port to plug it in
or use with a separate power bank. It goes for $40.

Extra Apple Watch charging cable
Alternately, you could just opt to pick up an extra Apple Watch charging
cable to keep for traveling or in your everyday carry bag and use it with a
power bank, USB power brick or on airplanes, in airports, hotels, and more.
Ugreen offers an MFi Apple Watch charging cable for $20, about 30% less than
the $30 that Apple charges.

Identifi App No Longer Available

2019-08-27 Thread Tom Lange
Does anybody out there remember and/or still use the Identifi app developed by
Anmol Tukrel? I got it from the app store back in 2016 and have found it useful
for identifying objects, reading text, all kinds of nifty stuff. I’ve shown it
to my students and two of them tried to find it in the U.S. app store. When I
clicked on its link at the applevis web site I was told that it’s no longer
available. Does anybody know when it was withdrawn and why?

Thanks,
Tom

Dabel

2019-08-27 Thread Kwork
If anyone here has used it, what do people think of a voice
chatting/streaming app called Dabel?

I found about it a few days ago on Facebook. From a productivity
standpoint, it would rate pretty low, but can be a diversion if you have
time to kill, and want to check out what other people are doing with
their day or life, or to discuss any sort of randomness, or to start
something of your own.

Like any system, there can be drama, but it can also be avoided.

Just wondered if anyone had checked it out. Thanks.

Re: Is there a way to delete all messages in a folder with the Exchange server using the native iPhone email program? another question for the list.

2019-08-27 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Albert.

Thanks for the help. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it will work.

I do have another question regarding the native iOS mail app. Is there a way to
just reply to a sender of a message rather than sending it to the whole list?
If there is, I'd like to know so I don't have to send thank you messages to the
list, but I can send them to the individual helper.

How to stop iCloud calendar spam and junk mail
By: William Gallagher

If you're suddenly being bothered by iCloud calendar spam invitations, here
are the steps you need to take to get rid of it all in Apple Mail on Mac and
iOS.

Apple generally does such a good job of cutting out spam that we don't even
have to think about it. Yet, sometimes there will suddenly be a new tidal
wave of the stuff that breaks through. While Apple did seem to have dealt
with the biggest one some years ago, attacks are on the rise again.

Here's what to do about it -both to rid yourself of the events today and
hopefully never get any again.

Calendar invitation spam
This type of spam will come in two flavors. One is when you get some junk
email and it includes an invitation alongside the usual Accept, Decline, or
Maybe buttons. The problem here is that whichever of these buttons you
click, it sends a notification back to the sender.

Which means that sender now knows your email address is a real and active
one. Accept, Decline or Maybe are each just the same way of telling that
spammer to target you more.

So you can't press any of the buttons. You could just delete the email, but
there is a better way -and it's provided by Apple.

When that happens, and it's an iCloud invitation, Apple has you covered. In
the email, right under those buttons, there will be a line that offers you a
way out.

"Do not recognize this sender? Report Junk," it says.

Click on Report Junk and then delete the email.

The harder, more intensely irritating spam event, is when this invitation is
not sent over email but is instead pushed out by an assailant. If an event
has appeared in your calendar without you adding it, that's what has
happened.

When that's the case, though, this event hasn't just been added to your
overall Calendar, it's actually been added to one calendar in your set of
them. If you've never tried dividing work and home events into different
calendars that get displayed together, you may not even have known that you
can do this.

As well as, for instance, "home" or "work" calendars, though, you can create
as many as you like and name them in any way you want.

So create one called Spam.

You can create a new calendar and move all spam into it. Then either don't
display that calendar, or delete it entirely -along with those events

On the Mac, you do this by:
. Open Calendar
. Choose File/New Calendar
. In the Calendar sidebar, click to name this new calendar

On iOS devices, you instead:
. Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen
. Tap Add Calendar
. Name it
. Tap Done

In either case, you now have a new calendar and by default, it's always
displayed alongside your regular one. You could choose to stop it being
displayed by just unticking it, on the Mac or iOS, and so never see anything
in there.

To get of these errant events, though, click on one and assign it to your
Spam calendar. Do that to as many as you have, and then do delete the
calendar.

On the Mac:
. Right click on the calendar
. Choose Delete
. From the dialog that appears, choose Delete again

On iOS:
. Tap Calendars
. Tap on the i button next to your Spam calendar
. Scroll to the bottom
. Tap Delete Calendar

In either case, you have removed that calendar -and also all of the spam
events in it. And you didn't send the junk mailer any notification.

Stop it from happening again
Apple changed its systems specifically to help stop you getting any more of
this, and it did so by altering Calendar's preferences -on
iCloud.com.
There's nothing you can do, not officially, on a Mac app outside of Safari,
or on iOS device, but you can set a preference online.

It'd be good if this were a setting in Mail on iOS or Mac, but at least here
in iCloud it should catch spam events before you see them
. Log in to iCloud.com
. Click on Calendar
. Click on the cog icon at bottom left
. Choose Preferences
. Click Advanced
. Select Receive event invitations as an Email

Now if someone wants to spam you, they'll have to try to call you and hassle
you that way -and we've details on how to reduce those calls, too.

Using the iPhone’s native mail app you can open the trash or deleted items box,
double tap on edit, then take your focus to the very bottom of the screen where
you will find a delete all button.

Subject: Is there a way to delete all messages in a folder with the Exchange
server using the native iPhone email program?

Sent from my iPhoneHi.

I’m still a neophite when it comes to using the mail app on the iPhone X. I
encountered something that I can’t figueare out how to do, and I’m hoping
there’s a way to do this. I have over 150,000 messages in my Microsoft
Exchange inbox. I go through a lot of them each day, deleting most of them. Of
course, they go into the Trash folder. Is there a way to delete all of them at
once? If there were just a few messages, this wouldn’t be a problem, but when
you get around 2,000 messages in there, deleting one message at a time can get
a bit tedious. What makes this situation even more fun is I get about 300
messages a day, and just leaving all of that in the Trash builds up really
fast. I can go to outlook on my PC and delete all of them at once, but I’m
hoping I can do this on my iPhone and not have to worry about using the PC at
all. If someone knows how to do this, please let me know. Oh yeah, I’m using a
Focus 40 Blue fifth generation with my iPhone, so I’d like to use it to do this
if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have a blessed day and don’t work toohard.
