RE: InstaCart App ... pricing

2020-09-06 Thread Ann Byrne
You can purchase a monthly subscription to both Shipt and
Instacart. Shipt is $14.95, and I think instacart is a little less,
but I'm subscribed to Shipt and not Instacart so the amount for
Instacart may be wrong. when I use shipt, there is no charge per
ddelivery as that is covered by the monthly fee. the last time I
used Instacart the delivery charge was about $5. both services
encourage a tip as well.

I have had good service from both shipt and Instacart.

The usual practice is this. I speak for Shipt. You join for a yearly
membership of $99 and you may can join for a monthly fee. The
delivery fee is $10 or so for any order up to $35. Anything we order
above $35 is free delivery. I don't know about sale prices or
points. The service is worth it to us because it frees us from being
dependent on someone.

Hi All,
I have often wondered about this service, so if I may please ask
you, is this service expensive? From my understanding, this service
charges $14.95 just to use the service, and then they charge a
delivery fee of $4.95, and they do not honor the sale prices because
that is another way they make money? Meaning we as customers don't
get the actual sale price, and we as customers can't use a reward
card if we have one, but the shoppers use their personal reward
card, so then the shoppers also get our points on their own reward
card. I do give a tip, so I include this as well. Do customers
have to order a certain amount maybe like $30 or 50 to use the
service. I hear so many people saying this is a great service, but
when I ask them how much does the service charge, no one knows for
sure. I could very well be wrong, but this is what I read from the
agreement on their web site. So, please let me know if I am wrong,
as I would appreciate it.

Maybe it is different in different areas, not for sure.

Janet

Hi,

I have been using Instacart since the pandemic hit in March and we
order groceries every week. The app is easy to use and the store
personnel are cooperative. The shoppers ask us questions when items
are out of stock or not good quality and give me a chance to reply
with my answer. The drivers bring the groceries to our front door
and my husband goes out to get them. m. The shoppers are
nice. One time one of the items we ordered was missing. We called
the support line and they credited our account for the missing
item. It could have been misplaced when the items were being rung
up. We are very pleased with the service.

RE: InstaCart App

2020-09-06 Thread janet gross
Hi Shai,
I have been looking for a shopping service. I will check them out thoroughly.
I have this service where I live, and I definitely want a shopping service like
this. $99 a year isn't a bad deal, and matter of fact, this service is right
where my favorite store is. Can I ask you if you order an item, and the store
is out of it, will the shopper call you to let you know, or to ask you if you
want to replace it with something else? Do you use this app on the phone, or on
the pc?
Is there somewhere on the app to ask the shopper to please check the expiration
date especially on the dairy products? I can't even begin to say how many
times when I'm at the store, and the shopper picks up the products, and I ask
him or her to check the expiration date, and low in behold, it was out dated
some days ago.
Do you have your credit card information saved on their web site, so you don't
have to enter it every time you place an order?
Is there a certain amount for the tip?
If you have a problem with the purchases, can you call someone to report or if
you don't get what you asked for, but still been charged for it?
Am I right in assuming this app is accessible with VoiceOver?

Thank you so much.

Janet

RE: Apple is greedy, news!

2020-09-06 Thread chaltain
Did I miss something? In the article that was posted, it says:

While Google also takes a 30 percent cut from in-app purchases, hosts will
still get 100 percent of their revenue from Android purchases where Facebook
Pay is available. Reuters notes, however, that the line Facebook added for
Android stating that it doesn’t charge fees for purchases isn’t showing up
either.

Isn't this saying Google is waiving it's 30% if Facebook Pay is used? How does
this equate with the media not saying anything about Google? Isn't this counter
to the statement about how greedy Google is?

Epic try to get a sweet deal from Apple. Apple said no. Epic got mad. What
nobody is talking about is it epic is also going after Google, which charges
the same 30% cut that Apple does, although most of the tech press wants to

RE: InstaCart App

2020-09-06 Thread llumpkin
The usual practice is this. I speak for Shipt. You join for a yearly membership
of $99 and you may can join for a monthly fee. The delivery fee is $10 or so
for any order up to $35. Anything we order above $35 is free delivery. I don't
know about sale prices or points. The service is worth it to us because it
frees us from being dependent on someone.

Hi All,
I have often wondered about this service, so if I may please ask you, is this
service expensive? From my understanding, this service charges $14.95 just to
use the service, and then they charge a delivery fee of $4.95, and they do not
honor the sale prices because that is another way they make money? Meaning we
as customers don't get the actual sale price, and we as customers can't use a
reward card if we have one, but the shoppers use their personal reward card, so
then the shoppers also get our points on their own reward card. I do give a
tip, so I include this as well. Do customers have to order a certain amount
maybe like $30 or 50 to use the service. I hear so many people saying this is
a great service, but when I ask them how much does the service charge, no one
knows for sure. I could very well be wrong, but this is what I read from the
agreement on their web site. So, please let me know if I am wrong, as I would
appreciate it.
Maybe it is different in different areas, not for sure.

Hi,

I have been using Instacart since the pandemic hit in March and we order
groceries every week. The app is easy to use and the store personnel are
cooperative. The shoppers ask us questions when items are out of stock or not
good quality and give me a chance to reply with my answer. The drivers bring
the groceries to our front door and my husband goes out to get them. m. The
shoppers are nice. One time one of the items we ordered was missing. We
called the support line and they credited our account for the missing item. It
could have been misplaced when the items were being rung up. We are very
pleased with the service.

Facebook says Apple blocked message noting 30 percent App Store fee
Apple reportedly refused to display the transparency notice for FB's paid
online events.

1. Apple Blocks Facebook Message About App Fees
Just when we thought we'd run out of "Apple is greedy" news, the tech
giant reportedly blocked Facebook's message to users who organize paid
online events. The message isn't showing up on Android, either, but Apple
seems to bear the brunt of the coverage, of course.
Apple wouldn't allow Facebook to tell its users that the tech giant is
getting a cut from the sales of paid online events, the social network
told Reuters. Earlier this month, Facebook launched a new feature that
gives businesses and creators a way to charge for the online events they
host on the platform. Since the company rolled it out to help small
businesses during the pandemic, it vowed not to collect fees from paid
events "for at least the next year."

Facebook said it also asked Apple to reduce its 30 percent App Store tax
or to at least allow it to use Facebook Pay to collect users' payments
directly. By doing the latter, it can absorb the costs for businesses,
which will then get 100 percent of the revenue they generate. Apple
refused on both counts, prompting the social network to join other
developers like Epic Games in putting Apple on blast for its App Store
policies.

In an effort to let its users know that not everything they pay will go to
the hosts, Facebook added a notice on the purchase screen for iOS clearly
stating that Apple will take a 30 percent cut. Apparently, though, Apple
blocked it from showing that notice to users, citing an App Store rule
that prohibits developers from showing "irrelevant" information. The
company told Reuters in a statement:

"Now more than ever, we should have the option to help people understand
where money they intend for small businesses actually goes. Unfortunately
Apple rejected our transparency notice around their 30% tax but we are
still working to make that information available inside the app
experience."

While Google also takes a 30 percent cut from in-app purchases, hosts will
still get 100 percent of their revenue from Android purchases where
Facebook Pay is available. Reuters notes, however, that the line Facebook
added for Android stating that it doesn't charge fees for purchases isn't
showing up either.

Call apple accessibility and they will help you. I hated that vibrating thing.
That is the first thing I did when my iPhone updated.

Apple is greedy, news!

2020-09-06 Thread janet gross
Hi Everyone,
I recently came across this and just thought some might be interested.

August 28, 2020
Facebook says Apple blocked message noting 30 percent App Store fee
Apple reportedly refused to display the transparency notice for FB's paid
online events.
1. Apple Blocks Facebook Message About App Fees
Just when we thought we'd run out of "Apple is greedy" news, the tech giant
reportedly blocked Facebook's message to users who organize paid online events.
The message isn't showing up on Android, either, but Apple seems to bear the
brunt of the coverage, of course.
Apple wouldn't allow Facebook to tell its users that the tech giant is getting
a cut from the sales of paid online events, the social network told Reuters.
Earlier this month, Facebook launched a new feature that gives businesses and
creators a way to charge for the online events they host on the platform. Since
the company rolled it out to help small businesses during the pandemic, it
vowed not to collect fees from paid events "for at least the next year."

Facebook said it also asked Apple to reduce its 30 percent App Store tax or to
at least allow it to use Facebook Pay to collect users' payments directly. By
doing the latter, it can absorb the costs for businesses, which will then get
100 percent of the revenue they generate. Apple refused on both counts,
prompting the social network to join other developers like Epic Games in
putting Apple on blast for its App Store policies.

In an effort to let its users know that not everything they pay will go to the
hosts, Facebook added a notice on the purchase screen for iOS clearly stating
that Apple will take a 30 percent cut. Apparently, though, Apple blocked it
from showing that notice to users, citing an App Store rule that prohibits
developers from showing "irrelevant" information. The company told Reuters in a
statement:

"Now more than ever, we should have the option to help people understand where
money they intend for small businesses actually goes. Unfortunately Apple
rejected our transparency notice around their 30% tax but we are still working
to make that information available inside the app experience."

While Google also takes a 30 percent cut from in-app purchases, hosts will
still get 100 percent of their revenue from Android purchases where Facebook
Pay is available. Reuters notes, however, that the line Facebook added for
Android stating that it doesn't charge fees for purchases isn't showing up
either.

Re: InstaCart App

2020-09-06 Thread Mary Jo Partyka

2020-09-06 Thread Mike B
Hi Richard,

My setting for vibrations is off, but like I've said since I've got this
phone, there's a slight vibration I can't get rid of and it's only a light
vibration and I believe it's the phone speakers.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go dodgers!

That's not always true. For instance on Friday, the same person who shopped for
me also brought the order and you can chat with them about something they say

Re: how to stop I phone from vibrating

2020-09-06 Thread Mike B
Hi Dennis,

I have all Haptics turned off, but I believe that slight vibration we're
feeling is actually the speakers making the back of the phone vibrate. If
there's another setting to turn off all vibrations I have yet to find one.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go dodgers!

Hi Dennis,

, humbly appologize. You go to settings, accessibility, VoiceOver, audio then
sounds and haptics. I wink you can turn them off in here.

Re: how to stop I phone from vibrating

2020-09-06 Thread Arnold Schmidt
As my dad would have said, that's why they make all kinds. I think those
vibrations are wonderful. I have turned all those noises completely off, and
had removed sounds, I call them noises, from the rotor, although I have since
put it back in the unlikely event I may need them in the future. That little
vibration lets me know when my finger touches an icon, and that is all I need.
I think it is wonderful, although I am glad the vibration; apparently can be
turned off for those who don't agree with me. As Sly Stone said, different
strokes for different folks.

It has been our understanding that for Instacart, someone does the shopping and
someone else does the delivery which we don't like. In shipt, the shopper
completes the entire process from shopping to delivery.

I think Shipt is in my area, too, but I have never used it. How do the two apps
compare, both from an accessibility point of view, and in general. Thanks for
any opinions.

As an aside, yesterday, somebody was lamenting the fact that in the IOS 13 mail
app, individual messages can not be trashed. I had to figure out how to do it
for this reply, to be able to reply to the correct message. Expand the thread,

Hi Dennis,

I think all you have to do to turn all haptics off in VoiceOver sounds. So, go

RE: InstaCart App

2020-09-06 Thread llumpkin
I have a little experience with Instacart and the app and pc interface were
accessible. Our main experience, however, is with shipt. The people there have
been very supportive in making their app and pc interface accessible and their
support people have been quick to respond to any problems we had with the
shopping or the interfaces.

RE: Three finger double tap and hold and swipe up gesture to copy selected text not workingI

2020-09-06 Thread Richard Turner
If you use the rotor after adding Text Selection to the rotor, it is quite
doable, though maybe a bit tedious.
Text Selection is not on the rotor by default so you have to go and add it.
IN brief, the way it works is to first get to the beginning of the text you
wish to copy, turn the rotor to Text Selection.
Now, flick up or down with one finger through the options, character, word,
line, page, select all.
When you get to the one you want, flick right and that amount of text will be
selected.
Keep flicking until all is selected.
Then, turn the rotor to edit, and flick up or down to copy and double tap.

Then, go where you want to paste and turn to edit and flick up or down to paste
and double tap.
You can also define custom gestures under VoiceOver settings, commands.
I set a two finger flick right to paste and a two finger flick left to copy.
So, once the selection is done I don’t have to use the edit on the rotor.

I have so many problems with copying and pasting. Just say for instance, I see
a little saying that I enjoy posted on facebook. I can not find a way to copy
and paste that text unless I do the quadruple 3 finger tap. I do not find any

select and copy any text you wanted. I just tried setting the 2 finger

I'm not sure when Apple introduced this Voiceover gesture but I believe it was
in one of the iOS 13 versions. If you go to Settings, Accessibility, Voiceover,
Commands, All commands, Editing, and Copy, a predefined gesture of three
finger double tap, hold, and flick up is listed. However, when I start typing a
text message and select all of it and try this gesture, nothing is copied.

Is this gesture working for anyone? I'm wondering why it's listed here if it
doesn't work. I created my own copy gesture on this screen of a two finger
swipe left as described by Richard Turner and it works just fine.

Thanks in advance for letting me know if this gesture works for you and if so,

Apparently there may be more ways than one to do this. The way I accomplish
this is to hold your finger on the shift key for a couple of seconds, then you
can flick down to choose all caps. , etc.

I will have some thoughts in another post about my impressions so far, but my
first question: What happened to caps lock? Is it a diferent gesture now? On my
iphone 6, it is a triple tap after selecting shift. It doesn't work on here,
even though it is turned on in settings, general, keyboard. Thanks for any
information.

It is now a quadruple tap.

I really suspect that one of the recent YouTube updates triggered this behavior.
Where on Earth do you go to report this to Google?

I've never found a clear way to do that. I also have not put a lot of energy
into it, I have to admit.

It's not clear to me if this is an issue with the Youtube app or IOS 13.7. The
fact that it stopped working when upgrading to IOS 13.7 is a good clue, but
that doesn't mean that this upgrade didn't just expose something Google was
doing wrong in the Youtube app. I'd start by reporting this to Google, which I
just did, but I'd encourage others to do it as well.

Note that this doesn't seem to be just because this is a Google app or that
there's some feud going on between Apple and Google, since the youtube Music
app works just fine with Siri.
