RE: Where are my videos

2021-04-08 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
In the photos app you have 4 tabs along the bottom: Library, For You, Albums
and Search
If you select Albums, the pictures on that page are under 4 headings, at least
they are for me: My Albums, People and Places, Media Types and Utilities
If I go to Media Types, I have the following albums:
Videos
Selfies
Life Photos
Burstss
Screenshots
Of course you may not have all of these because you only see a category if
there is something in it. I checked my Burst album and noticed all the pictures
were quite old so I selected all 8 items in it and when I tapped delete it
asked me if I wanted to delete 32 pictures. After I confirmed the "Bursts"
album disappeared from the list.
But if you have 1 or more videos you should definitely have a video album under
the Media Types heading and it should be followed by the number of videos in
the album.

I wonder if it is the number of videos.
I checked what I had said earlier, by recording a video.
I was wrong, it does show up under the Photos app.
Mine said clearly, Video, and gave the time and date ...
But that wa only one video.

Here is some info about the iPHone SE 2020, or as Apple calls it the SE 2nd
Generation.

It came out after the iPHone 11, so it has the same chip as the 11 and the same
camera processing, though with only one camera, which is all you need for blind
applications like OCR, Object recognition and good basic picture taking.

I use my iPhone SE 2ND Gen a lot and I sometimes can go about 10 hours between
charges.
I would say 8 hours is solid.
It blows the iPhone 8 out of the water for performance. Not to mention it has
the same water resistance as the 11.

It just came out a year ago, so it is easily the best phone with a home button
unless you have to have the larger screen that the 11 has.

MY only regret after a year is that I did not buy the 256 GB phone, but the 128
GB.
I have a ton of music and seem to be adding more and more stuff.
Time to delete things.
But, it is a great phone.

I would recommend though, wait and see what the 13 offers this fall.
Unless you need a phone now.

See if they bring back any kind of finger sensor.

Interesting, do you know what the battery life is compared to an iPhone 8?
I usually charge my 8 every night because the apps I run seem to take a lot of
battery.

Its camera is perfect for things like Seeing AI and other Apps that the
visually impaired need.

It is extremely fast. A lot faster than the iPhone 8. And, since it is
exactly the same size as an iPhone 8, it fits the same cases.

As far as I can tell, its battery is just a bit too small.

I have to charge my SE 2020 once a day. It gets used around 7 to 8 hours every
day.

Its the least expensive iPhone model out there with a small screen and a bunch
of camera features that I will never never, use.

Cheers,

The iphone SE 2020 is a regular iPhone just built with a chip from the iphone

Side loading Apps Would Break the Security and Privacy of iPhone Says Tim Cook!

2021-04-08 Thread janet gross
Hi Everyone,
I was reading, and I came across this in which I thought was quite interesting.
 I copied and pasted below.

Side loading Apps Would 'Break' the Security and Privacy of iPhone, Says Tim
Cook
Monday April 5, 2021 4:32 am PDT by
Sami Fathi
In a
wide-ranging interview
with The New York Times' Kara Swisher, on her podcast "Sway," Apple CEO
Tim Cook
talks about Apple's feud with Facebook, its stance on privacy, Apple's legal
battle with
Epic Games,
and possible future Apple innovations such as
Apple Glasses.
tim cook apple park
Apple is in the midst of a
heated public spat with Facebook
over privacy, particularly over an upcoming feature on iOS that will require
apps to ask for users consent before tracking them.
The new feature called ATT, or App Tracking Transparency, coming with iOS 14.5
in "a few weeks," according to Cook, will force apps to ask users for permission
to track them across other apps and websites. Facebook has argued vehemently
against the new feature, saying it impacts small businesses that rely on
personalized
ads, derived from tracking, to keep afloat.
‌Tim Cook‌ says he disagrees with that argument, indirectly saying that
Facebook's point of view is "flimsy." Cook calls privacy the "top issue of the
21st century," adding that with tracking, companies, such as Facebook are able
to put "together an entire profile of what you're thinking and what you're
doing."
What App Tracking Transparency] tries to get at is companies that are taking
advantage of tracking you across apps of other companies and therefore putting
together an entire profile of what you're thinking, what you're doing,
surveilling you across the web 24/7.
They'll see a simple pop-up that basically prompts them to answer the question,
are they OK with being tracked or not? If they are, things move on. If
they're not, then the tracking is turned off.
When asked how the new feature will impact Facebook,
Cook says he's not "focused on Facebook,"
saying Apple adds new tools and features every year that improves and doubles
down on user privacy. Speaking more specifically to what actions may need
to be taken against companies that track users, Cook says he used to be a firm
believer in the ability for companies to regulate themselves but notes that's
now changed.

Generally speaking, I think privacy is one of the top issues of the 21st
century, and I think we're in a crisis. Years ago, I thought companies would
regulate
themselves and sort of get better. I no longer believe that. And I'm not
generally somebody that is keen on regulation, but I think that regulation is
required.

In a speech at a
privacy conference in January,
Cook strongly condemned social media companies that fuel conspiracy theories
thanks to their algorithms. Cook says that Apple doesn't have a social media
platform that is "pushing stuff in your feed," but notes it does have the
App Store
which it takes careful consideration in curating content for.

Well, you know, I can only speak for Apple. And from the very start, we've
always believed in curation. And so we review every app that goes on the store.
That doesn't mean that we're perfect at doing it. We're not. But we care deeply
about what we're offering our users. And when we have a new product like

Apple News,
we have human editors that are selecting the key stories. And so they're
avoiding all of the misinformation that is out there. The reality is that the
web in some areas has become a dark place. And without curation, you wind up
with this firehose of things that I would not want to put into an amplifier.
Which is what tech is in a large way. If you have a platform, you amplify
things.

Cook in typical Apple fashion never comments on future, unreleased Apple
products. However, possibly hinting at ‌Apple Glasses‌, Cook says AR is
"critically"
important for the future of Apple. The CEO envisions a future where
conversations include more than just words, but include charts, and "other
things"
appearing in a virtual space.

Well, I can't talk about anything that we may or may not have in the pipeline.
But in terms of AR, the promise of AR is that you and I are having a great
conversation right now. Arguably, it could even be better if we were able to
augment our discussion with charts or other things to appear. Your audience
would also benefit from this, too, I think. And so when I think about that in
different fields, whether it's health, whether it's education, whether it's
gaming, whether it's retail, I'm already seeing AR take off in some of these
areas. And I think the promise is even greater in the future. So it's a
critically
important part of Apple's future.

Speaking about
Apple's fight with Epic Games,
Cook says that Epic had long followed ‌App Store‌ rules, but decided to no
longer follow the guidelines all other developers follow. Cook says Apple is
"confident" in its case with the gaming giant.
It's about living up to the rules and

Yes.

Like all iPhones, there is a front camera and a rear camera.
The larger phones have more than one rear camera.

If you want to really get into taking pictures, I recommend the book, Capturing

Its camera is perfect for things like Seeing AI and other Apps that the

It is extremely fast. A lot faster than the iPhone 8. And, since it is
exactly the same size as an iPhone 8, it fits the same cases.

As far as I can tell, its battery is just a bit too small.

I have to charge my SE 2020 once a day. It gets used around 7 to 8 hours every
day.

Its the least expensive iPhone model out there with a small screen and a bunch
of camera features that I will never never, use.

I would recommend though, wait and see what the 13 offers this fall.
Unless you need a phone now.

See if they bring back any kind of finger sensor.

Interesting, do you know what the battery life is compared to an iPhone 8?
I usually charge my 8 every night because the apps I run seem to take a lot of
battery.

Its the least expensive iPhone model out there with a small screen and a bunch

Sorry, I don’t. I can tell you that I use Seeing AI a lot and it is a battery
hog.

Maybe your phone is old enough that the battery isn’t holding the same charge
as when it was new.

Maybe some one who has the answer to your question will respond but I have seen
more than just a few mentions stateing that Apple let us down some what on the
iPhone SE 2020 battery life.

I downloaded the app as well and started the signup process, but I get
to the second screen where it asks for my profile details name, birth
date and height, but the birthdate and height are disabled, and when I
click confirm it says I have to enter a birth date. Rather
frustrating. My scale should arrive tomorrow, so I am hoping to get
things setup before then. I am going to the arboleaf site to see if
there is a way to signup there and create/edit my profile.
