Not a problem here, because if the deadbolt stays locked, they can't get out.
Nor can they get in.

Carolyn,
If you don't have a home button meaning you use face id. Simultaneously press
and then release the side button and volume up button, and that will take a
screen shot. Tap the screenshot in the lower left corner, look for the done
button, tap Done.

Yes, you have to turn off the screen curtain before taking a screen shot,
otherwise, you get a nice black picture with no helpful information.

Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button.

I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen
curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off
with a 3 finger triple-tap.

Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the
camera click. Wait just a few seconds, and the screen shot will be in the
photo library.

But I can't remember how to do it. Could someone remind me? I'm running the

Thanks in advance for your help.

I completely understand the difference between the door knob, lever, deadbolt.
I do definitely need a door knob though, or I couldn’t open the door. I have a
thick wooden door, and even though, the door knob is not the main loc to open
the door, I still have to have it to open the door. We do not use the door
knob for the main lock though. That is why we also have a other lock such as
the deadbolt as our main lock. Every one where I live have door knobs.
Because I have a thick wooden door, I can’t just swing the wooden door open.
We have the door knobs all through the building, in the hallways, laundry

go, rather it be a office or such, they all have door knobs for opening and
closing, in doctor’s offices, through all hospitals, lawyers offices,

not the main locks. This information about the smart lock, sounds great, and

Janet, you have to understand the difference between the knob or lever you turn
or push down on to open an unlocked door and the deadbolt.
If you have a good and secure deadbolt there is no reason to also have a
knob/lever which can be locked. As I said before, these are typically not very
strong and are designed for inside the house for bathrooms, bedrooms or an
office which you may want to lock, but you are not typically worried about
something which is extremely secure, just something to keep somebody out like
when you go to the washroom and you simply don't want somebody else to walk in
on you.
As I said, I prefer the European style levers but of course a round or ovel
knob you twist works just fine if that is your preference and of course you
could leave your existing lockable knob, but if you don't carry the key then
just make sur eyou don't accidently lock it when you leave.
Below is the name and a summary of the Schlage Encode Plus which is my next
choice for a smart lock since it supports the "Apple Keys" feature which allows
you to unlock it by tapping your phone or watch against the lock. This means
you can unlock this even if the power were out since it does not rrequire Wi-Fi
for unlocking as long as you stand right in front of it with your iPhone or
Apple Watch. In this case it communicates directly with your device, of course
your iPhone would have to be unlocked so if you are somebody who prefers not to
have your iPhone protected with a PIN and Face Id (or touch Id if you have anb
SE) then you would have to do so otherwise you can't set up this feature just
like you can't set up a credit card for Apple Pay unless your phone is
protected by a passcode/Face Id or Touch Id.

RE: Snooze.

2023-06-04 Thread janet gross
Carolyn,
You don't really even have to open or turn on your phone, when the alarm goes
off, pick up your phone, either flick up or down, or what I do, is just swipe
left to right, and the only options I have is to snooze or stop. If I want to
snooze, I double tab on that, or if I want to stop the alarm, double tab on
that. I think the snooze option is set as a default, so you will either have
to disable the snooze when you set the alarm, or just do what I said above. I
wonder if you had Hey Siri set up, could you just tell her to stop the alarm,
not sure though, as I don't have the Hey Siri set up. Just a thought.

I am a real fan of the snooze on my alarm on my phone, and I love it!
Although, I do press the snooze button several times before I finally get out
of bed. I also do understand some people just don't like that though. When my
alarm goes off, I have the option to press the snooze button again, or to press
the stop button, in which will turnthe alarm completely off, so it is my
choice. I have to turn off the alarm some way rather I press the snooze or the
stop button. I think I seen in one of these messages Donna gave instructions
to disable the snooze feature completely, so someone wouldn't be bothered with
it at all.

So, then, I just tapped my phone, but if I open and flick, I can go to Stop?

Hi All,
I am a real fan of the snooze on my alarm on my phone, and I love it!
I think I seen in one of these messages Donna gave instructions
to disable the snooze feature completely, so someone wouldn't be bothered with
it at all.

Carolyn and others, What does disabling snooze by me? I would think that you
could avoid it by just not hitting the snooze button, but it sounds like there

I just tapped the phone, the alarm stopped, I was glad. I jumped out of bed to
start my day. Then, Snooze went off. I tapped on it, and thank goodness, it
didn't keep repeating every ten minutes.

Carolyn,

Find & open the Clock app. Swipe down to the alarm time in which you want to
turn off Snooze. Flick on the time until you get to Edit, then tap to expand.
Swipe down to Snooze & tap to toggle OFF. Tap on Save at the top of the page.
Tap on BACK to go to the list of your alarms to find & Edit other set Alarm
times or just Close the app.

OK. In the past, I've gotten Siri to set, but it will be worth it to go into

Carolyn,

Anytime you are creating a new alarm, just swipe down past the time to snooze &
confirm that snooze is turned off. If you do this while setting up the alarm
time then you shouldn't have to do it later.

RE: Snooze.

2023-06-04 Thread janet gross
Hi All,
I am a real fan of the snooze on my alarm on my phone, and I love it!
I think I seen in one of these messages Donna gave instructions
to disable the snooze feature completely, so someone wouldn't be bothered with
it at all.

Carolyn and others, What does disabling snooze by me? I would think that you
could avoid it by just not hitting the snooze button, but it sounds like there
might be some advantage to this that I'm not aware of.

I don't think having the snooze switch on or off really makes a difference, as
long as you hit the stop button when a bird goes off. I just adjusted this on
my alarm to see if it makes a difference the next time I said it. I know that
if you hit the lock button, it will automatically snooze.

RE: Snooze.

2023-06-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don't think it has to do with updates, if you create an alarm and make sure
snooze is off for that alarm then as long as you use that same alarm it should
be off. If you create a new alarm it's probably going to be on which I believe
might be the default and I don't think you can change the default at this point.

Re: Snooze.

2023-06-04 Thread joseph hudson
I don't think having the snooze switch on or off really makes a difference, as
long as you hit the stop button when a bird goes off. I just adjusted this on
my alarm to see if it makes a difference the next time I said it. I know that
if you hit the lock button, it will automatically snooze.

Re: Snooze.

2023-06-04 Thread Donna Casteen
Carolyn,

Anytime you are creating a new alarm, just swipe down past the time to snooze &
confirm that snooze is turned off. If you do this while setting up the alarm
time then you shouldn't have to do it later.

Re: Voice Dream Reader now going under new name in App Store updates

2023-06-04 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I've got loads of audio books in voice dream reader. It is great.
Audio dramas also work very well in VDR as well. I've never used
voice dream scanner, or voice dream writer because I've never needed
them at this time. It is so nice to be able to use iTunes to share
zipped files with voice dream reader, and have my files go in any of
the folders I have created. I accidentally deleted all my content in
voice dream reader one time, but it was because of this, that I really
learned how useful the app can really be.
