Yes, I know you can attach a photo to a text using the hand gestures. But my
friend is quite new in the iPhone world and wants to attach a photo to a text
using Siri. Can this be done?

2023-08-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
No, Mastodon is an alternative to Twitter.
https://techxplore.com/news/2022-11-mastodon-social-media-expert.html

Mastodon does have a IOS client named Mastodon, but there are many clients for
Mastodon given that it has an open interface.

I hope that helps.

RE: Can't Unlock SE 2020

2023-08-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Also, if all it says is iPhone SE you would have to know which iPhone SE it is
based on when you bought it.

Alternatively, you can double tap on the model number which consists of letters
and numbers and you then get a 4-digit model number with the letter "A" in
front of it.

On my iPhone 13 Pro the model number is MLUP3VC/A and when I double tap on it I
get A2636.

If you Google that 4-digit model number with A in front, you can find out which
phone you have. In my case, if I Google "iPhone A2636" I find websites
including one from Apple which allows you to identify your phone, but many
sites also list all the other models of iPhone 13 Pro which are available
around the world. For example, the A2636 which I have has the following
description:

The iPhone 13 Pro A2636 is the model available in Canada, Japan, Mexico and
Saudi Arabia. Notice that the Japanese model still has a camera shutter sound
and we can’t disable it.

This model supports dual eSIM and dual SIM with an eSIM and a nano-SIM card.

In addition to that model, the iPhone 13 Pro also comes as A2483, A2638, A2639
and A2640.

A2483:

The iPhone 13 Pro A2483 is on sale exclusively in the United States. This is
the most desirable model because it is the only model supporting 5G mmWave
network. The look is slightly different as it has a side cutout for the 5G
antenna.

It has Dual SIM capability with nano-SIM and eSIM and it also supports Dual
eSIM.

A2638:

The iPhone 13 Pro A2638 is the most popular edition as it is on sale in the UK,
South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia.

This model supports Dual SIM (nano‑SIM and eSIM) and Dual eSIM. If you buy the
Korean version, it has a shutter sound when taking photos.

A2639:

The iPhone 13 Pro A2639 is the version in China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Similar to previous years, the Chinese iPhone disables FaceTime Audio and Wi-Fi
calling while this is not a problem for Hong Kong model.

This is the only model supporting dual nano-SIM cards.

A2640:

The iPhone 13 Pro A2640 is on sale in Russia and some other countries. This
version offers some Russian apps during initial setup as required by local
regulations.

It supports Dual SIM (nano‑SIM and eSIM) and Dual eSIM.

If you go to the Identify your iPhone
model website from Apple, you can
look up the model numbers of all iPhones all the way back to the original
iPhone introduced in 2007. It lists the model numbers, a bit of other
information, when it was introduced and each model has a link to the technical
specifications for that phone where you can find things like which chip it has,
iOS version when released, dimensions and weight etc.

I just downloaded the ResMed app. This is from limited experience. It seems
the app doesn’t control my ResMed CPAP device. It seems to do the following:

* Link to existing Web-based sleep records showing records of hours
slept with the CPAP in operation.
* Display results of what may be a scoring system for quality of sleep,
sleep apnea events each hour, and reports of mask leaks. (Evidently the ResMed
devices, MyAir 10 and above, report this information and it’s placed on the
Web and password protected.)
* Present video tutorials to help the user have a better experience.

RE: Can't Unlock SE 2020

2023-08-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There are 3 models of iPhone SE by now, the original (1st Generation) was
released in March 2016, the SE 2nd Gen in March of 2020 and the SE 3rd Gen in
March of 2022.
Each of these SE models has the same chip as the phones released in September
prior, so the Se 1st Gen has the same chip as the iPhone 6S/6S Plus which were
released in September 2015, the iPhone Se 2nd Gen (2020) has the same chip as
the iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max released in September 2019 and the Se 3rd Gen
(2022) has the same chip as the iPhone 13/13 Mini/13 Pro/13 Pro Max which were
released in September 2021. Hwere a listing of all phones since the 6S/6S Plus
in 2015 and their chips:

September 2015: iPhone 6S/6S Plus
March 2016: iPhone SE 1st Generation, also refered to as just iPhone SE since
it was the first one
Chip: Apple A9 (14 nm architecture)

September 2016: iPhone 7/7 Plus
Chip: Apple A10 Fusion

September 2017: iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X
Chip: Apple A11 Bionic (10 nm architecture)

September 2018: iPhone XS/XS Max and iPhone XR
Cjhip: Apple A12 Bionic (7 nm architecture)

September 2019: iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max
March 2020: iPhone SE 2nd Generation also called SE 2020
Chip: Apple A13 Bionic (7 nm+ architecture)

September 2020: iPhone 12/12 Mini/12 Pro/12 Pro Max
Chip: Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm architecture)

September 2021: iPhone 13/13 Mini/13 Pro/13 Pro Max
March 2022: iPhone SE 3rd Gen also called SE 2022
Chip: Apple A15 Bionic (5 nm architecture)

September 2022: iPhone 14/14 Plus/14 Pro/14 Pro Max
Chip in 14/14 Plus: Apple A15 Bionic (5 nm architecture), same as in iPhone 13
family
Chip in 14 Pro/14 Pro Max: Apple A16 Bionic (4 nm architecture)
2022 was the first year Apple did not put their latest chip in the basic iPhone
14/14 Plus, only Pro models got the a16 chip. It is expected this continues
where only Pro/Ultra models get the newest chip and regular models get last
year's chip.

September 2023: upcoming iPhone 15/15 Plus/15 Pro/15 Ultra
Chip in 15 and 15 Plus: Apple A16 Bionic (4 nm architecture), same as in iPhone
14 Pro/Pro Max last year
Chip in 15 Pro and Ultra (if that is what it will be called): A17 Bionic most
likely with 3 NM architecture

Re: Mona App

2023-08-20 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Kathy,

That’s right. You will need to create a Mastodon account first. Then you can
use Mona to log into it.

There are lots of Mastodon servers you could join. Quite a few blind people are
on the tweesecake server at
https://tweesecake.social

If you go to that link, you will see the rules for the Tweesecake server and a
Create Account link you can use to join. It looks like a moderator will need to
approve your request. Once you are accepted, you can log into your account and
then choose New Account in Mona.

Note that I’m not on Tweesecake; I just used it as an example. Also, if you
later decide you prefer a different server, you can switch to it, bringing your
lists of followers and who you follow along with you.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

I just downloaded the ResMed app. This is from limited experience. It seems
the app doesn’t control my ResMed CPAP device. It seems to do the following:

  * Link to existing Web-based sleep records showing records of hours slept
with the CPAP in operation.
  * Display results of what may be a scoring system for quality of sleep,
sleep apnea events each hour, and reports of mask leaks. (Evidently the ResMed
devices, MyAir 10 and above, report this information and it’s placed on the

  * Present video tutorials to help the user have a better experience.
