Well, it isn't necessary, but you could, if you wanted.

 Dear all.
One problem I am facing with fb messenger app is that
when I am chatting and a new message comes it doesn't get
read to me. I have to find the message to be able to hear it
on my 5C. Is it possible that when a new message comes
voiceover automatically reads it? If the phone is locked and
a message comes on fb, it gets read aloud without my doing
anything.
Or, is there a third party app that reads messages
aloud without having to find the text for reading it?
At the risk of going off topic, can someone also
suggest me any chat client that works with jaws and allows
facebook chat? When I chat using my browser on my windows 7
computer, i have to refresh
the page to see if a new message has arrived.
The best way I have found thus far is to type on my
computer's browser for sending my messages and listen to the
messages as they arrive in the notification area on my
phone. As I said earlier, if the phone is locked the
notification gets read without my having to do anything.
So, is there a better way to chat on facebook?

 Thanks for any suggestions.

Wasn't there a bluetooth keyboard issue that got resolved in iOS7? My guess is
that there are enough bugs that folks are not being silent about it. I'm not
sure how much that translates into stuff getting done. None of the bugs I've
encountered have been absolutely crucial. The only one that's particularly
nasty is the Voiceover crash when turning off Braille status cells, but again,
I don't know how widespread this one is, either. I don't think reporting bugs
hurts, and developers won't know about some things unless they're informed.

I'm kind of disappointed that VO keystrokes and media keys don't function
anymore on my Anker bluetooth keyboard, because I just got it a few months ago.
This seems to happen increasingly with current technology. It obsoletes itself
very quickly. I have a docking speaker (Altec-Lansing Octiv 650) which became
obsolete six months after I bought it new, because it stopped working with an
updated version of iOS. . I suppose this is a caveat with buying third-party
accessories and peripherals.

 Hi all,

I often come across listers suggesting to others ways of
restarting
 their
iDevice in the event of a problem including using the
power button and
 the
Home button which seems extreme, so I thought I would
post the proper way
 of
doing so as suggested by Apple:

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Learn how to turn off and on (restart) and reset your
iPhone, iPad, or
 iPod
 touch.

 How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your
device until the
 red
slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device
completely off.
Personal note: for VoiceOver user this means hold power
button for at
 least
4 seconds or until you hear: Power off, slide or
double-tap. At this
 point
simply double-tap the screen and wait for about 30
seconds for the full
 shutdown to complete.

After the device turns off, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button again
 until
 you see the Apple logo.
Personal note: for VoiceOver users this means press and
hold the power
button for about 4 seconds then release the button and
wait for about 30
seconds for the full restart--you will eventually hear
VoiceOver begin
 speaking.

 How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only
if you can't
 restart
 it.

To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home
buttons for at
 least
10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Personal note: it is specified that you should only use
this method if
 you
can't manually shut down as described in the first part
of this tutorial.
 In
other words, make all effort to shut down and restart
properly, and if
 that
doesn't work, then choose this Sleep button+Home button
procedure.
