Updating iPad

2016-01-19 Thread Christopher Moss
I can't figure this out. I keep getting the message that my iPad hasn't
been updated for many weeks. It says it will update when theiPad is
plugged in, locked and ted to wifi.

But when I plug it in and iTnes opens, there is no way I can tell no matter
where I look on the page that opens that makes the iPad update.

Any ideas? Write to me directly.

Re: iPod and Evernote

2016-01-07 Thread Christopher Moss
I just reopened my iPad this morning after my significant other got it
talking again yesterday, and the speech is already not working.. and the
triple home button clicking does absolutely nothing.

I begin to think that taking it to the Apple store might be my on ly
solution. What a crock.

iPod and Evernote

2016-01-06 Thread Christopher Moss
I have two basic problems with my iPad.

One is that the Voice output keeps getting turned off and other than going
in to the Zettings to turn it back on, which I can't see well enough to do,
there is nothing I can do. Advice?

Also I added Evernote. When I open it on my iPad all I get is a figure of
a man and some statement about how useful Evernotis is and two or three
dots below it.. and no way to open Evernote up to use it. Advvice on that?

Sound on iPad

2015-10-01 Thread Christopher Moss
Here's something I don't understand. I have "Voice Over" on on my iPad Air
but somehow I managed to turn speech off.. how can that be? I tried ussing
Siri to turn it back on but it said it is already on. Yet unless I am
still in Siri, I can't get anything to read. What setting did I manage to
screw up?

I am going to have lots of elementary questions like this to ask.. be
ready.

Scriverner authoring sofrware and accessibility

2015-09-30 Thread Christopher Moss
I just sent this to the support people at Sxrivener authoring software:

I am considering purchasing Scrivener and am trying out the 30 day freebie
i.e.. I have already run into a serious problem. I am trying to run the
interactive tutorial but it is nor accessible with the accessibility
software I own and which ran me close to $1000 as it is. I use AiSquared's
Zoomtext which utilizes copying to a clipboard and then reading what it
copied aloud with speech output. As you must know your tutorial cannot be
copy to the clapboard nor read aloud with speech output.

If I can’t do the tutorial, why should I buy Scrivener?

I wrote to your salts department about this and have so far not gotten
anything but the the initial acknowledgement of my request, a form letter.
Since I only have 30 days to decide, I would suggest you answer my email
soon if you want me to buy the software.

I am a multiply published book and short story as well as having had over
800 articles published on web sites other than my own blogs.

I am going to post this email to vi-phone, a Google Group for bind and
visually impaired tecnnology users.

All these wonderful perplexing devices

2015-09-24 Thread Christopher Moss
I am a legally blind historical novelist who loves all the new but
frustrating tools coming out of places like Apple and Amazon.

I am finding the Echyo partivbbularly frustrating since there is so little
on it in twrms of books, and other tools called Echo that have nothing to
do with it... form instance, I bought the Echo Pen and am returning it
because it turns out to have nothing to do with working the Amazon Alexa
Echo... grrr...

I also am starting to use my iPad, which my beloved gave me last Christmas,
because it is supposed to work with Exho. I needed to start using it
anyway, even though I don't go to lectures or even much out of the house
at my age and infirmity. One thing I am find ing extremenly perplexing is
how the iPad supposedly is accessible but at the same time does not seem to
be at all. I went into settings to increase the size of the font but it
didn't, exceptt the Settings. I could use some typs on using iPad
accessibility.

On the other hand my beloved Kindle Keyboard is as gentle as a lamb, and
just as tasty.

I told you I was a novelist. My books are on Amazon under the names Nan
Hawthorne and Christopher Hawthorne Moss and are both self published and
also published formally. If you are interested in any, let me know.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

As I said, I am typopathological, so forgive any I did not catch.

Looking for mentor

2013-08-26 Thread Christopher Moss
I just got my first iPod Touch and am slowly working through how to use it.

I accidentally found I could turn on features from my desktop computer if
the device is attached via the USB . Unfortunately I did not notice where
I managed that...

I could use someone willing to answer my questions. I'm a quick learner...
just need apooint in the right direction.

I am mostly interested in the various accessibility apps, using the
cqlendar and reminders, reading books, email, text. Tips?

I promise I will also look through this groujp.
