The bluetooth issue people are experiencing, it's not just bose

2019-12-27 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I know I’ve argued this point on this and other lists many times. But what I’m
about to tell you just feeds my argument.
Anyway, last month, I purchased a Tribit Storm Box BT speaker on Amazon, which
works perfectly, how it should, speech and sounds and music coming out of it
instead of the phone’s speaker.
For Christmas, I received the Tribit X-Sound Go (which I asked for as a smaller
option to the storm box, thinking oh, it will work, having speech, audio, and
sound coming out of it instead of the phone’s speaker.) Darn if I didn’t pair
it today, and it acts JUST like the bose soundlink micro and the Bose
soundwear, with speech coming out of the phone (blah) and music (if I happen to
be using the speaker for music and not just games like I often do) coming
through the speaker. So I don’t think the problem is bose or even high end
speakers, because this xSound Go cost $29, and the storm box (the one that
works right) cost $45. So I’m curious what the bose speakers, the SoundBlaster
Roar, The Pocket Kick, and now the Tribit XSound Go all have in common that the
other Tribit Storm Box, the UE Boom, the Oraolo go, and the Zulu audio don’t
have. I’m very confused, because there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason
why some speakers behave properly (storm box, etc.) and some don’t (bose, SB
Roar, X Sound Go, etc). under iOS 13. Curiouser and curiouser.
I will let apple know, and I will also contact Tribit to see if there’s a
firmware update.
I know some of you guys like VO and system sounds coming through the phone’s
speaker, but quite frankly, I can’t stand it. I have a really hard time hearing
VO, because when a BT speaker is connected, you lose the ability to adjust VO
volume, my rotor’s already at 100 percent. And I don’t know, I just don’t feel
like restarting my device 5 6 and 7 times a day or more is very healthy, just
to be able to play my games or whatever through a BT speaker.
Anyway, those are my observations, take them as you will. :)

Re: A good clock radio app

2016-10-12 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I'm also looking for one of these, I've tried tune in and ootunes, but the
problem is I can't have it set to wake me up at different times different days.
And with tune in, I can't lock my screen at night. So if anyone could recommend
a good clock radio app, I'd be super greatful.

Apple music, pandora, or spotify, which is better in terms of accessibility

2016-03-02 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I'm wondering which music service to go with, which is better, Pandora,
spotify, or apple music. What I'm aiming to do is I don't just want to listen
to one genre or artist, I want a huge mix of genres, songs, and artists based
on what my music interests are. I know Pandora does this, but aren't there
accessibility shortcomings? Also, will apple music/itunes radio work for this
purpos? I know that's accessible? Any thoughts and recommendations would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Moop

Re: Sharing a song wit a friend

2016-02-11 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I'm going to jump in here on the topic of sending songs to people. If any of
you are familiar with the workflow app, you can create a workflow to get the
currently playing song and for example send it somebody via email. There are
multiple things you can do with the currently playing song, but since on the
topic of sending songs via email, I just thought I'd contribute.
Thanks,

Re: New Apple Navigation app

2015-11-03 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
It's a shame this indoor navigation app that apple is developing will only be
available for larger venues, because those of us in smaller towns won't be able
to take advantage of this technology. I don't know how this would work, but I
think there should be an indoor navigation app where you put each point in
manually, then when you navigate to that point again, a notification would pop
up and alert you that you are near a previously marked point. For example, one
would go to the mall and mark the stores they visit, and the next time they go
to the mall, they'd get an alert when they walk near that store. Another way
this could work without the venue having indoor navigation software installed
would be maybe through the camera somehow. I'm not an app developer by any
means, so I don't know if or how this could possibly work, it's just an idea.

Re: bard mobile still giving me grief

Hi,
Thanks for this tip, but the problem I'm having is when I go to play any book,
whether it's from the wishlist, or whether it's transferred with itunes. As of
last night, I downloaded a book from the recently added books section, and I
still had no luck. I'm going to restart my iPod touch and try it again, and if
I still don't have any luck, I'll email support.

Re: good earbud headphones recommendation

2013-05-15 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
About the price tag, I was looking at a price range of up to $50. Is there
anything comfortable and decent sounding pair in that price range?
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far.

If your just after good sound and aren't looking for something with a built
in microphone, Bose makes a really grate set of over the ear phones for two
hundred. They come with both a short and a long cable with the standard 3.5
Mm plugs which connect to a short about 2 inches long cable coming out of the
left ear cup. The cables can be connected together to make a long cable.
These phones are made for portable players as well as iPhones. The phones
fold to a compact size and come with a nice zippered case. They are
light-weight and you can wear them for hours with no discomfort or sweating.
The cable that comes out of the left ear cup is thicker and should pose no
problems as it is made to support the dead weight of all the cables. The
cables act as an antenna for use with iPods with a radio. I have both an
iPhone 4 and an iPod Nano fifth generation. The phones work well with the
 Nano's FM radio.

These are very good phones if your a keyboard player and your recording your
performances to a digital recorder and need to hear the balance and bass
content to get your mix just the right way.

The ear buds are very good but they aren't a match for the ear phones which
as I said are made for use with iPhones and iPads. The model numbers change
but the price remains the same and you can tell by the description if these
are the right ones because it says their made for use with iPhones and iPads
 and other music players.

In my opinion, you would have to look pretty hard to find another set of
phones that offer grate comfort and even better sound.

Eric is right. The Bose headset is very comfortable, an the audio
quality is excellent. The bass isn't boomy, and the treble isn't
peaky. The set comes with medium-sized covers already mounted and
includes small and large covers. The little headphones do not
penetrate deeply into the ear canal. The complete model number for
the in-line microphone and remote version is MIE2i.

They sound great and fit perfect. They are small and lightweight and can be
worn all day without realizing they are there. Also, Bose stands behind
them, even if damage results from your own accident.

I am normally not a Bose fan. I think most of their products are overrated

Re: Justification for using Kindle vs. downloading from Bookshare

2013-05-12 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I often buy books, on iBooks, kindle, nook, etc. But the problem I have with
this, is not the fact that I have to purchase the books, but the fact that I
have to use the vo voice to read the book. I'd rather have a separate tts voice
reading the book to me, so then I can lock the screen and do other things on my
device while I listen to the book. That's my take.

 Hi DJ, Richard, and Others,

The app is FiRe 2 - Field Recorder ($5.99) by Audiofile Engineering:
 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fire-2-field-recorder/id436241643?mt=8

The name comes from the two initial letters of the words, Field
Recorder, since the original FiRe app (spelled capital F, small
letter i, capital R, small letter e) was the first professional
grade recorder for the iPhone for recording gigs in the field.

The editing functions and additional customization for sampling rates
were added in version two of the app, which I haven't tried to use yet
with VoiceOver. They also allowed you to record mono tracks, and
provided various equalizer settings to boost male or female voice
recordings, or optimize for specifc settings, like lecture recordings
or concerts. The sort of features that were accessible in version 1 of
FiRe that you didn't find in other such apps were precise marker
placement and navigation by these markers within tracks.

One warning for something not to try with VoiceOver: do not attempt to
get and use the Røde microphone apps, because these will kill
VoiceOver. In the original release of FiRe, there was a separate,
free version of the FiRe app that was released for the Blue Microphone
product called Blue FiRe. Blue FiRe and the first version of FiRe are
long since gone from the app store, but the Blue FiRe app was a useful
free version of FiRe to learn on. It didn't have all the
accessibility features of FiRe for marker placement, but it had an
introductory recording explaining how the app was used, and included a
lot of the basic recording features of FiRe. If you had an iPhone 3GS
or early generation iPod Touch, you could use it to record.

While I was reading about Audiofile Engineering's recent iPhone
microphone support, I came across references to the Røde iXY
microphone for the iPhone 4S and older iPad models. This is billed as
a 24-bit/96kHz-capable recording device that demoed at the Consumer
Electronic Show and started shipping last month. It also was supposed
to have a special version of the FiRe 2 app to use for recording (same
price of $5.99 for the app), and a free recording app named RØDE Rec
LE, both by RØDE Microphones. I'll just say that if you load the
RØDE Rec LE app and launch it, your VoiceOver volume will get set to
0 with no way of getting the volume back unless you can kill the app,
or reset your iPhone. You can kill the app in the app switcher if you
perform all the VoiceOver gestures without sound feedback, and VO will
come back. Or if you have the regular FiRe 2 app in your app switcher
and can switch to that, you can also get sound back. Just don't even
bother to try the RØDE Microphones apps if you use VoiceOver without
vision. They won't be of any use.

 HTH. Cheers,

 Esther

special thing about this is you can send multiple files/documents by
email. I'm not sure wehther it was free or not when I got it several

Ideally, the music will already be on your iOS device, whether you imported
it through iTunes or some other means. The excitement is that this app has
all of your songs at the same volume and transitions smoothly between songs
when listening. It also has some good sound if you like hearing bass,
trevel, and the like. Finally, it offers more features than the built-in
music app. Muxic is only $0.99 so why not give it a try? You'll only be out
 a buck.

 Hi,
Actually, this isn't exactly the case, at least on the
mac. There's an app from digidna called Disc Aid. I think
they make it for windows too. There's a checkbox under
the advanced tab in the settings, it says something like
show apps even if sharing isn't enabled. Check that box,
then you can get your ootunes recordings. I was so happy

 Hi,
Actually, this isn't exactly the case, at least on the
mac. There's an app from digidna called Disc Aid. I
think they make it for windows too. There's a checkbox
under the advanced tab in the settings, it says
something like show apps even if sharing isn't enabled.
Check that box, then you can get your ootunes

 Hope this helps,

 Hi Folks,
I'm guessing that an Accessible Fruit machine game is a slot machine.

Slots or so named fruit machine games are surely belongs to the most
preferred games online. Fruit machine has a colorful and exhilarating
history that began in the 1800s. However visitors in the past required to
visit a land based casino to spin a few, now with the era of the on-line
casinos, everyone who have PC and web access may gamble any time they want.
In addition a lot of online casinos let you gamble your favorite fruit
machine for free or for real money.

The first slot machine was invented by Charles Fey in the early 1800s. It
was named “Liberty Bell”. The machine contained symbols of bells and
horseshoes on the reels and also gambling cards. The intention of the game
was simply to obtain the greatest potential poker hands in order to gain.
The users were allowed to hold the reels they wanted to keep and spin the
others again, hoping to get a far better hand than the previous one. The
simplicity of slot machines is the same as the additionally preferred
scratch and win games. All you need is pure luck to gain considerable
amounts within a few seconds. That is the most important reason why those
types of games are so common amongst the online gamblers all around the
 world.

Next the Audio Galaxy web site.

You have to sign up with Audio Galaxy and create an account. You can
make a stand alone account or you can link your Facebook account with
it and that creates your account. Once you do that, from your mac or
windows pc, you download the Audio Galaxy helper. This is a small
program which runs all the time from your machine. This means that
your computer must be online and logged in so that you can stream
your audio from anywhere. Once the helper is downloaded and installed
it will by default add the user account music folder to the list so
that everything you have there is available. If you want to add
additional folders, you need to right-click the helper from the
system tray, and choose the manage folders link. This opens a list of
all your folders in the standard Windows open dialog. Sorry Mac
users, I don't know how to do this from the Mac. Unfortunately for
windows users, arrowing through the folders doesn't give you keyboard
access on checking and unchecking the folders you want to select.
However, at least with Window-Eyes users, if you know how to use the
mouse pointer, you can do this. If you are using another screen reader, I
don't know how to tell you the following.
Reading the steps for Window-Eyes users might help you do the
equivalent in your preferred screen reader though.

Assuming you are using the default layout of Window-Eyes, when the
folder selection dialog opens, use your regular arrows to navigate
this tree. Window-Eyes will tell you if the folder is checked,
unchecked, or partially checked. If it is partially checked, it means
you can right arrow the folder to see subfolders and one or more of those
 is checked.
Now to check or uncheck a folder to be excluded or included in Audio
Galaxy's folder list, do the following.

 1. Arrow to the folder you want to add or remove.

 2. Route the mouse pointer to the focus by pressing
