Re: Square

2013-03-07 Thread Nicholas Abrahamson
Hey DJ.

I use square myself. It's a great business tool for what I need. My work
around on the sound jack being used by the square is either a splitter, I plug
square into one jack and used to plug my Icom into another. Now, when I can I
use blue-tooth, or my braille display, which gets round the sound problem
neatly for me. Hope this helps.

it on an IPad mini now days. As the customer I am suppose to make some
selectgions after they slide the card, but I can not make those

want a text message receipt. They do not get a tip for holding a cup
under a spout and possibly entering a food order into the register and
I don't care about a text receipt. One day I mentioned that they could

Jed,

I do this all the time. You don't need an app or anything unless that's what
you want to do. All you do is go in to compose, go to the to field and then I
just add everyone's name from address book, or type in numbers if I need to.
You don't have to hit enter or anything in-between names, which makes it nice.
Be warned though, if you send a text out to all of them, then they can all both
reply to you directly there, and see everyone else's reply in the group. Hope
this helps.

Re: New Member Intro andHelp Needed Choosing iPhone Model

2013-02-04 Thread Nicholas Abrahamson
Hi Allen

I'd honestly go with the iPhone 5 because it has both a slightly bigger screen
and better resolution. This is going to be important if you're using zoom,
apple's built in equivalent of zoom text, on the iPhone to see it. The other
advantage the 5 has is that it has more ram then say the 4 or 4S. This will
help when running certain apps because they will run a bit more smoothly for
you. Memory is eaten up mostly by say music, pictures and videos. If you're
not sure how much you may want of those picking something like a 64 gb might be
a bit much if only because the price sounds intimidating to some people first
starting out. I don't know if I'm already giving you stuff you know or not
here but apple usually upgrades iPhones iPods and such in september for release
in October. A lot of people just starting out will pick a smaller model of the
phone, and then upgrade again in october after they've had time to learn a bit
more about there iPhone and the types of things they will and won't use. If
this is something you think you would want to do, then picking the smallest
model would be the best way to go if only because you won't have put a ton of
money in to something you're upgrading in a few months anyway. If though, you
don't care to upgrade your iPhone in october and you're happy using it for the
next 2 years, then picking a model that's bigger would be the way to go. Hope
this helps.

Peace,
Nick

with the device and a wireless plan. I live near Jackson, MS so it appears
that ATT offers the most extensive coverage and plan even if not the best
price. I'm looking for recommendations on whether to get the iPhone 4S which
ATT apparently only offers in a 16GB model or to get an iPhone 5 with more
memory capacity. I know this depends on each individual's personal use but I
figured I would tend to run more apps than sighted users to get additional
accessibility. I use the ZoomText screen reader and I know they have an
iPhone app and that there are also many other apps to choose from. My main
use of the iPhone will be taking advantage of its accessibility features in
identifying objects as my vision continues to decline and in accessing its
web and other data services as I begin to travel more.

Can anyone offer suggestions on whether I should get a 4S model with 16GB
versus a higher capacity 5 model? I realize the 5 will cost more up front but
I can afford the cost if I get additional benefit. I have worked extensively
with computers since 1981 so I'm aware that spending more up front for
additional features and capacity is usually quickly justified with the rapid
 technological expansion.

Thanks for any help and I'm looking forward to tapping into the extensive
 knowledge of this list.

Re: A cool little program which I just learned about

2012-11-01 Thread Nicholas Abrahamson
Hey all,

Just wanted to say thanks so much for all the info on this program. I had
previously purchased pogo, which I love, but was worried, because I wanted to
be able to share stuff with family who only had iPhones or who were having
trouble getting in to shared stuff from Pogo.

Peace,
Nick

You may not need a jukebox app specifically. I just pressed one of the songs
in a folder from my iPhone and now it's proceeding to play on through the
rest of the music in the file. I realize that isn't the same as a jukebox but
you don't have to keep picking songs one by one to be streamed. Oh, I see
what it did! I was exploring through folders and opened a folder with music.
when I tapped one song, it switched to the music tab and is in the same
player it would use if it were playing music on my iPhone and that's why it
just keeps going on through all the songs in the folder! This really is a
cool app! I've always wished I could attach my phone to an external drive
sometimes and then I'd use my computer less; this is the next best thing; you
can't get rid of the computer but you can access anything you need on it as
long as something on the iPhone will work with it! Better than attaching an
external drive in some ways because you don't have something extra to carry
around and connect. You just would want to make sure nobody else can get your
phone and get into your computer. This is like having ssh on your phone,
which I believe you can do but only by jailbreaking.

As far as the jukebox app goes, I see it on the website but it says

I don’t know anything about the jukebox. Can you get the address of the page
where this is mentioned and send it to me so I can check it out a bit more?

Your entire computer will be able to be accessed by your IOS device.
There are also options to access this through a web address. If you log in
you will have access to it all. Then there are links to share folders that
you would want others to see.

So if you want just one subfolder to be given to someone, it will have a url
for them to click on, and will only show the portion you allowed them access
 to.

 Make sense?

 Hello,
I haven’t downloaded the program yet. I would like to find out
whether I can show or hide certain folders when using this program? I do
not wish to show the entire drive of my computer.
