Subject: Robo-E, puzzle game with VoiceOver support got an update March 16,
2013

Hi Folks,
Here is more info about Robo-E by MPaja software.
I hope it will answer some questions about the game.

Robo-E is in charge of cleaning up the galaxy from toxic waste. But he
needs your help as his positronic brain is confused after a nearby
supernova went off.

You must guide Robo-E in pushing all the red waste balls on top of the
yellow energy rings to activate their transfer to hyperspace.

Robo-E brings you the classic game of Sokoban with beautiful graphics and
and intuitive UI. Includes hundreds of built in levels.
Sokoban originally was a Japanese puzzle that involved moving boxes around
a room. Without planning several moves in advance you could easily box
yourself in. Robo-E is a spin on this classic puzzle with a Sci-Fi theme.
You play on a grid with walls, Robo-E, your character, balls and energy
rings. You can have more than one ball at a time. you push the balls in
the empty spaces and finally into the energy rings.

Robo-E is playable with Voice Over, so for the ultimate challenge activate
Voice Over from the device settings and play blindfolded, trusting only
your touch and ears.

There is a review screen feature. By running your finger over the
screen the type of cell is announced and what is in it.
For the first three levels a hint is given as to what you can do.

As you go up in levels sometimes the grid gets larger and there are more
balls. At level 1 the grid is 5 by 5 with 1 ball. At level 12 the grid is
9 by 10 with 4 balls. At level 13 the grid is 6 by 6 with 5 balls.

The three finger swipe to move only works if the user
has VoiceOver on.

On the very first level you are above the ball in the starting position.
The energy ring is below the ball.

If you run your finger from top to bottom, you would hear,
wall, empty, Robo-E, ball, energy ring, empty, wall.
So you just need to swipe down to push the ball into the ring.

Once a ball is in an energy ring, you can't move over it. Often you in
fact need to push a ball away from an energy ring
temporarily in order to get access to another ball. Or sometimes a ball
sits on an energy ring already at the beginning of a level, but must be
moved away, temporarily, to end up on another energy ring. Only in the
end all the energy rings need to be occupied to complete the level.

Both you and the ball are blocked by the walls, so once a ball is against
a wall it can not be moved off it, but can be moved along it. If a ball
and energy ring are on the same wall, only that ball can go in that energy
ring, even if there is another ball closer to the ring.
If you move a ball to the corner, there is no way to get it out from
there, except by undoing the move.
Even though the rules are simple, the locations of the walls, balls and
rings make the game almost as complicated as chess.

This type of puzzle is very challenging, and your success like in a chess
game, will depend on how many moves ahead you can store in your mind.

version 1.4 added new sounds and support for Game Center.
And Translations to Finnish, French, Italian, Portuguese.

There is now a different sound for moving one square, going over multiple
squares, pushing the ball, pushing the ball over ring, trying to push a
ball that cannot move, and bumping into walls.

Game Center support is also there for high-score tracking.

There is no free version and the price is $1.99 US.

Re: DND iOS 6.0.2

The same problem.

  Subject: DND iOS 6.0.2

  Hi,

Has anyone noticed on either an iPad or iPhone running iOS v6.0.2 that DND is
no longer functioning properly?

I have 3 iPad Mini's here and 2 iPhone 5's, all running iOS v6.0.2. All had
DND manually off, with the schedule DND mode active in the Notifications
section.

This worked perfectly in iOS v6 - v6.0.1, however now, DND remains on
permanently when the schedule in theory should have disabled it.

I have only noticed this behaviour since installing the update.

This is not likely Voice Over related, as 2 of the iPad's and 1 of the
iPhone's are not used with Voice Over regularly.

Anyone noticed at all this issue, I have turned DND off, inc the schedule
feature, and even performed a Reset all settings on one of the devices to see…
same issue.

  Thoughts?

Re: Introducing BrailleTouch - an iPhone app for typing in braille on your touchscreen

Subject: Introducing BrailleTouch - an iPhone app for typing in braille on
your touchscreen

  Greetings and Happy Holidays!

My name is Caleb, and I'm one of the developers of a new iPhone app called
BrailleTouch. BrailleTouch allows you to type using braille on your
touchscreen, and is based on the standard six key braille keyboard. We are
excited to announce that BrailleTouch will be on the App Store by the end of
January! We hope that you will like BrailleTouch and find it useful. I'm happy
to answer any questions you may have, and I've included some more information
about the app below.

With BrailleTouch, you can send text messages, emails, and tweets from the
touchscreen braille keyboard. You can also copy text you type in braille to the
clipboard and paste it into other apps on your iPhone. There is a free version
of BrailleTouch, so you can try it before you buy it. The free version lets you
type in braille and hear the text you entered. Many braille instructors have
told us that they would like to use BrailleTouch as a teaching tool, which the
free version will support. Additional features are available as In App
Purchases. The Messaging Upgrade allows you to send text messages, emails, and
tweets from the touchscreen braille keyboard. The Clipboard Upgrade allows you
to copy text from the touchscreen braille keyboard and paste it into other apps
on your iPhone.

BrailleTouch is based on research conducted at Georgia Tech in Atlanta,
Georgia, USA, where I am a graduate student. My colleagues and I tested the
software with eleven volunteers who are blind. We found that people who knew
the standard Perkins braille keyboard were able to master BrailleTouch within
an hour of practice and type at an average of 23 words per minute using Grade 1
braille. We received such positive feedback that we were inspired to take this
research out of the laboratory and release BrailleTouch to the public. We hope
this software will provide a helpful alternative to the VoiceOver split tap
keyboard, and that it will help improve the mobile computing experience for
people in the blind community who use an iPhone.

BrailleTouch is fully compatible with VoiceOver. It works on the iPhone 3GS
through the iPhone 5, iPod touch models since the 3rd generation, and requires
iOS 5.0 or a later operating system. BrailleTouch is only for the iPhone and
iPod touch, and is not supported on the iPad. The first release is based on
North American English Grade 1 Uncontracted Braille. You can choose to hear
speech feedback for each character you type, each word you type, or both.

More information about BrailleTouch is available on our website:
  http://brailletouchapp.com/

The website includes a User Guide and Frequently Asked Questions. You can
also sign up for our email list, and we will notify you when we have an exact
release date in January for the app.

  We are also on Twitter:
  https://twitter.com/brailletouch

With the free version of BrailleTouch, you can try out the touchscreen
braille keyboard and hear the text that you typed read back to you. The
Messaging Upgrade allows you to send text messages, emails, and tweets, and
costs US$9.99. The Clipboard Upgrade allows you to copy text from the braille
keyboard to paste into other apps, and costs US$9.99. You must have the
Messaging Upgrade first before you can get the Clipboard Upgrade.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have. We are very excited about
the upcoming release of BrailleTouch on the App Store. I hope that you will
like BrailleTouch and find it useful.

  Best wishes and happy holidays,
  Caleb
  The BrailleTouch Team
