Re: A bit OT, New Fire 7" tablet
May I suggest you join the following list for help: vi-kindle: Visually Impaired Kindle users Group Group formed to share tips on using Amazon's Kindle e-readers accessibility features. Independently moderated, not affiliated with Amazon. I have managed to plug it in to charge, but now I’m a bit stuck. I realise I will have to get a sighted person to switch speech on, but does anyone know of any resources I could check out? My MBP is refusing to read me the on-line instruction thing, no doubt on grounds of good taste. BTW, I know it’s only cheap, but my goodness me, what a difference even in the packaging from Apple. Re: A bit OT, New Fire 7" tablet
Hi Adrienne, I couldn't find any resources, either. I ended up researching Talkback generally and VoiceView specifically, and I just learned on my own. Since this is off topic, I'll just get you started by saying that to enable VoiceView, press and hold the power button until you hear the piano tones, as if you were going to power off the unit. Then, release the power button and press and hold two fingers on the screen, placed slightly apart, until VoiceView is enabled. You will have to hold your fingers in place for several seconds. Once VoiceView is enabled, you'll be taken through a tutorial to help you learn the gestures, and more help is available under the accessibility section of the Fire's settings. Be prepared for a learning curve. Precision and speed are key when executing the gestures, whereas iOS is more forgiving. You'll need patience and practice, but you'll get it. Thanks, moderators. I realize I've pushed the envelope. Cheryl Rejoice always! Pray continually. Give thanks in everything, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 HCSB Sent from my iPhone > On Aug 2, 2016, at 3:14 PM, 'ChalmersAS' via VIPhone >wrote: > > OK, Apple Fan Girl forever and all, but I can’t resist a bargain and I got > one of those bottom of the range Fire tablets for GBP60 including case and SD > card so I thought it would do for places I wouldn’t want to take a nice Apple > thing. > > I have managed to plug it in to charge, but now I’m a bit stuck.
