Re: A good app for reading mail
Give iDentifi a try then. When you download the app, double tap on settings, then double tap on mode, then double tap on text. Then find the done button and double tap. There are several steps to getting the picture. At some point you will have to give permission for it to use the camera. Then, find the take picture or take photo button and double tap. Then, toward the bottom of the screen will be another take photo button. Don't double tap on that until you are ready to take the picture. You need to hold the phone about 10 to 12 inches above the page if it is a standard full page and have the camera pointed roughly at the middle of the page. Then take the picture. You will then have to find the use photo button toward the bottom right. Double tap on that and plan to wait up to a minute. Be careful not to touch the screen as you might interrupt it reading your text. If you find this not working for you, you may need sighted help to get the camera at the right position. Re: A good app for reading mail
If you are not interested in saving the document, the iDentifi app can be set to recognize text and does a good job, but it is slow. TextGrabber for around $5 can also do a good job, is fairly fast, and you can copy and paste the text easily somewhere else for saving and it does allow you to go back in your history to see previous scans. iDentifi also will let you copy and paste, but it is a little more temperamental. KNFB Reader, for $99.99, is by far the fastest, plus gives you the option to save the document and add pages to it, etc. Those are the easiest to use apps. Prizmo, at $9.99, does a good job, but is fairly tedious to use in my opinion.
