Correct, text is translated before it is displayed. This is because text always 
saved as text, not grade II braille. The buffer is not displayed, either in the 
iPhone, or in blindness specific devices which keep text as text rather than 
grade II braille symbology.

currently writing until you make a space it is however a step in the right 
direction. Just needs a little touching up. I'd had forgotten all about this

Go to settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, Braille, and turn automatic 
braille translation off. Apple added this in iOS 7.

Something I would like to see in terms of Braille support, would be a change in 
the way contractions are handled when writing Braille. With other screen 
readers  the contraction is not expanded until a space is created and the word 
essentially is identified.   Four instance, if you write the word lack L a CK 
if you hesitate a moment after writing L AC and then write the K the word 
knowledge appears at the end of LAC then you have to delete all that 
exclamation point  to end on a positive note reading braille on the iPhone is

It was not in the Keynote, and anything beta testers discover while actually 
using iOS8 will be covered by Apple's NDA. In other words, if we didn't find 
out about it on Monday, no one is allowed to say anything until the official 
release in the fall. Naturally there will be those who disregard Apple's 
policies, but discussing anything covered under an NDA is not allowed on this 
list.
