Question About Aftershocks Headphones

2015-12-30 Thread clarence carter
I purchased a pair of Aftershocks Blues. However the directions are in
print. Does anyone know of a Step-by -step instruction manual on line?
A pod cast would be helpful, also.

Thanks!

If you are using the wired ones, why do you like these over the standard iphone

I believe either Motorola or LG has come out with a bone conduction headset, as

RE: Aftershocks headphones?

2015-09-15 Thread Cristóbal
Nice concept, but still needs some refinement. The handsfree microphone aspect
is really a feature in name only. Dictation or giving voicecommands are more
miss than hit and in my experience, trying to conduct a conversation with
someone through them is going to be a poor experience.
The actual sound part with the bone conduction is good, but I've found the
headband to be a tight fit with no means of adjusting them and they're not the
strongest device out there. Mine cracked a few weeks after getting them.
Aftershokz is good about sending a replacement if you register the product for
the warranty, but still...
I fixed my original set with an expired credit card that I cut to size and used
as a brace on each side of the headband and then taped it tightly with some
electrical tape. It's held up well for the past eight months. I sold the
replacement headset Aftershokz sent me on eBay making the end cost to me around
$10.00 after the eBay fees.
The company's coming out with a newer design early next year that is supposedly
going to be stronger and be adjustable for big headed people like myself I
suppose.
I mainly use my Aftershokz headset for working out now. Elyptical, stationary
bike, jumping rope etc. I do like the ability to work out and having
headphones on that won't cover up my ears and get them all hot and sweaty and
the situatioal awareness is indeed nice.

Re: Aftershocks headphones?

2015-09-14 Thread Andy Baracco
I have owned several of the bluetooth models. i use them for navigating with
GPS apps while walking or riding. They are good for this purpose because
they don't cover your ears. The negatives are that the audio quality is to
me not acceptable for music. They also suffer from audio bleed, so if you
are sitting next to someone on a bus, they can probably hear your music.
Also, they are not durable. I've broken a few with just gentle use. Also,
depending on how your head is shaped, you might feel that they are pushing
on the sides of your head. I do get a headache when wearing them for a long
time. You should know that they will be coming out with a new model that is
made of titanium, so this will hopefully solve the breakage problem. They
also say that they have found a way to solve the audio bleed issue. Hope
this answers some of your questions.

I have the bluetooth model and find them useful. In my opinion, they are not
best suited for listening to music very often but do well for speach, for
example your phone, sat nav, the odd phone cal, sport etc.

That and the fit. From what I've read, and very briefly experienced, the more
snug the fit, the better the quality. I don't know the technical reasons, and I
may be wrong, but that was my impression.

On another note, how do those of you who use the Bluez find the microphone?
Specifically, how is it when compared to the mic on the earbuds Apple supplies
with any iPhone?

Hi, Chris,

I also have a pair of the AfterShokz headphones, the Bluetooth Model, and I
like them very much. They have a crispness to their sound, especially with
music, but I think the bass quality needs to be improved. I have other
Bluetooth headsets that have better quality as far as music is concerned. I
find the AfterShokz useful, especially at the gym, where I can talk with people
easier because of the bone conduction feature, not wearing the earpieces
directly on your ears. Just my opinion. Thanks.

I also have a problem with those because of waring hering aids and

Some kinds of hearing aids have a bluetooth piece that goes with them

I have heard that some batches of the bluetooth models had connectivity and
microphone issues, so Annie may have gotten a lemon. Annie, I'm not minimizing
your experience at all, and I strongly suggest you investigate a replacement or
refund. I only mention this to point out that there are known problems with
some of the line, but others work perfectly. Bluetooth connectivity problems
are not, to my knowledge, an across-the-board issue. I very much wish I could

Phone processor seems to make a difference on the BT connectivity
issue. On the 5S I have no problems. On the 4S I definitely do.
They're not the best for music and probably won't be with the kind of
technology, but they're more than adequate and they're great for gPs.
If you have a slower phone, use the standard ones, the cord is really
long and you still have lots of flexibility.

opporate.

I ended up switching to an over the ear, one side bluetooth headphone.
I also have a problem with those because of waring hering aids and
dark glasses and ear rings. It ends up being a lot of what I call ear
gear. So the over the ear headset has to sit on top of my hearing aid
and doesn't fit very well. If I had large ears it would probably work
better but I am not willing to have my ears enlarged, lol.

Some kinds of hearing aids have a bluetooth piece that goes with them
that will connect the hearing aids to your phone via a little tag you
ware around your neck. Yay, less ear gear! However, they tend to be
rather expensive. I am looking into that solution.

Hope this info helps a bit.

Have a great day everyone! ☺

Good evening everyone.
I am after opinions on Aftershocks headphones.
I am helping best friend and list member Hannah Day look into these as
she was informed by a mutual friend that they may suit her instead of
traditional headphones.
The reason she's looking into these is to enable her to wear headphones
despite her ears being vulnerable to infection.
She currently uses the speakers on her iPhone 4s. But while I can wear
traditional headphones only with hearing aids out, Hannah may not be
able to for it could put her at risk of ear infection.
I'm also interested myself as should they work for her I might check
them out for myself.
Any responses greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Kind regards
Chris.

Re: Opinions on Aftershocks headphones

The only thing i do not like is that they do leak out audio, so if you are
on a bus, for example, the person sitting next to you will hear your music.

Yes it does and thank you. But did you find the music to be of
insignificant quality both in volume and timbre or texture? We're really
after headphones to be used for speech output, but the more we know the
better we say.

Mine have a very strong base response. I wonder if facial bone structure may
cause the variation in the reports we are getting.

Hi, Chris,

I also have a pair of the AfterShokz headphones, the Bluetooth Model, and
I like them very much. They have a crispness to their sound, especially
with music, but I think the bass quality needs to be improved. I have
other Bluetooth headsets that have better quality as far as music is
concerned. I find the AfterShokz useful, especially at the gym, where I
can talk with people easier because of the bone conduction feature, not
wearing the earpieces directly on your ears. Just my opinion. Thanks.
