All Access Menus, Finding a Specific Restaurant

2013-06-07 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi Todd and Interested Others,

We are going to the Macaroni Grill in Albany this evening. I wanted to see if
their menu was available via this app. It doesn't show in the Search Nearby
option. I don't seem to be able to activate an edit field to search for this
establishment. Can this be accomplished, and if so, how? If not, I'll check
when we get close to the restaurant this evening. Thanks.

Les

All Access Menus

2013-06-07 Thread Debbie Downey
Hi all,

I posted this question yesterday but didn't receive any responses so perhaps
it didn't make it to the list?

This recent update is much improved! Thank you Todd!

I have a question though; when I go from page to page with 4 more categories
to choose from; it goes from page 5 to page 7 with no page 6. Does this mean
that there are no restaurants in my area belonging to the categories that
are on page 6 or is this just a bug?

Thanks!

Debbie,

It's hard to debug without more info, but it does sound like you are using
the category scrolling list which is going away because it's proving to be
confusing. The next update should be easier.

Great, thanks!

Just an FYI since a lot of you are starting to use the app. At the moment,

Updating All Access: Menus:

2013-06-03 Thread Donald Moore
Well, I'm using the 4S with the current operating system.

Since I couldn't find the app in the app store on the phone, I did get it on
my computer and sync it.

Since the update was announced, I've been trying to update it to see if I'd
possibly have any more success than I previously did.

It still doesn't show up as an update even though I've had others.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Todd, once the new screen is loaded, one thing you might do to have Voiceover
access this new screen properly is to issue the command:

 UIAccessibilityPostNotification(UIAccessibilityScreenChangedNotification,
 theNewView);

 or

 UIAccessibilityPostNotification(UIAccessibilityLayoutChangedNotification,
 theNewView);

Where theNewView is the view with the restaurant elements in it. The first
statement is meant for when an entire view changes and the second is meant
when a portion of a view changes or if a view is rearranged. Does this make
 sense?

this way Voiceover should stop seeing the list of restaurants that are not
 actually being shown on-screen visually.

 Hi Listers,
I've played around with the app and here are some things that I've found.

When double tapping on the nearby icon, it brings up a list of businesses.
If I double tap one of those businesses, a new screen comes up with 4 icons
 on it.
The first either says Map, or Menu. I bet it would depend on if the menu was
 available.
 The second icon is phone.
The third icon is web. I would think that this is to bring up a website for
the business. When I do this, it starts talking in japanese.
And the fourth icon is weather.

 Menu:
When the menu is double tapped it brings up the restaurant's menu.

 Suggestions:
I can get aroung with the way that the icons show up, but I think that it
would be more efficient to use a list. If it were in a list, I could slide
my finger down the left side, like I do with contacts.

I think there is a bug. When in the icon view, whether it be just after
double tapping a business, or in a menu, when I get to the end and I flick
right, it starts saying the list of businesses again. I have limited sight,
 but don't see any listings.

I know that when nearby is chosen, a list of businesses is populated. Would
there be a way to hide businesses that I would never want to see on the list
again? I think that this would cut down on the clutter, since not all
businesses are restaurants. Would these non restaurant businesses have menus
to offer? (IE price of services)

Todd, all in all, a very good start for something that is needed in our
 blind community.

 Thanks for all you do.

2013-05-29 Thread Thom
Hi Listers,
I've played around with the app and here are some things that I've found.

Re: All Access Menus

2013-05-29 Thread Cara Quinn
Thanks very much Thom, for this info.

Todd, once the new screen is loaded, one thing you might do to have Voiceover
access this new screen properly is to issue the command:

UIAccessibilityPostNotification(UIAccessibilityScreenChangedNotification,
theNewView);

or

UIAccessibilityPostNotification(UIAccessibilityLayoutChangedNotification,
theNewView);

Where theNewView is the view with the restaurant elements in it. The first
statement is meant for when an entire view changes and the second is meant when
a portion of a view changes or if a view is rearranged. Does this make sense?

this way Voiceover should stop seeing the list of restaurants that are not
actually being shown on-screen visually.

Re: All Access Menus

2013-05-29 Thread Todd Bernhard
Thanks, this is extremely helpful! I've already submitted an update based
on earlier feedback, and will add this.
