Re: Automatic update and why Apple needs to take more steps

2015-02-06 Thread Wayne Merritt
There is an easy way to fix the autoupdating issue: turn off automatic
updates in settings/iTunes and App Store or perhaps in General. Also,
when you see an app update, double tap the name of the app and then
swipe right to read the information of what was included. You
apparently did this since you read the message about not updating the
Urban Spoon app. In general, just because you get an app update, don't
assume that it's fine and update it. I agree in part that it should be
easier to roll back to a prior version, but I'm not sure that
demanding that Apple do something about the issue is a good way to
approach it.

I just checked my updates in the App Store. One of the apps I have is urban

spoon. There is an update. Next to the update it says don't update to this
we have found a serious problem. Or words to that effect.this has nothing to

do with excess ability. Is just a problem that they found with the app after

it was released. I have seen this with other apps in the past. And then, of

course, there are the apps which went updated, result in excess ability
 loser time.
It seems to me that Apple needs to make it easier for us to go back to the
previous version, without relying on iTunes backups on our computers. They
have made it easy, and indeed they encourage, The use of over the air
update. That only works as long as the update works as well or better than
the application it was replacing. There are enough examples where that is
simply not true. So it is time for Apple to give us more power and make it
possible for us to regress to a previous version without resorting to the
complicated nonsense of iTunes backup on our computers. This is especially
true, given the inaccessibility of the latest iTunes for Windows. Lucky for

me, I have a Mac, so I don't have to deal with that. But there certainly
have been times when iTunes for mac was problematic. So, come on Apple. Let

us have more freedom to control our devices as we see fit and as may indeed

 prove necessary.
